rate my break-in
so im only a few miles away from the 1200 mile milestone which supposedly ends my grandma style driving. just wanted some feedback from you guys to determine if i broke it in properly. heres the jist:
never shifted past ~3300 rpms
usually kept shifting at 2000-3000 rpms
did have to brake hard a few times during this period
once every few days i would push it acceleration-wise to see wat it had, but did so knowingly.
mostly stop and go city driving
did do highway driving, but never really passed 80 mph
3 times i accidently missed a gear and the engine reved to about 7000 rpms----is that a huge deal??-----

Keep the grandma style driving man, u will be amaze by how this driving style benefits you..
I am being serious here, I just got my clutch and flywheel installed 1 and half week ago, and driving like a grandma, i can use one full tank of gas for almost 400 miles, and also I have intake and manifold spacer that boost up the mileage, but that really did amaze me.
I like that go fast, in fact I had top out my Z at 160 after the I have broken in the clutch, that felt so great to being fast again. Greatest news for me, just installed a LSD last night, and I have to go back to the grandma style driving again for about 60-80 miles for the LSD to break in 100 percent, the guide says just need to do 30 minutes figure 8 and change oil, but i am feeling like to do city driving to make that save.
But your breakin is nice. don't worry about the miss gear, that just fine.

I babied for 100 miles and then drove it like I wanted. 90K and still strong. I think break-in is overrated....
As with everything, there are various opinions about this so do what you want. In my opinion, you have lost 1,200 miles of fun with a new car.

EDIT: Yep, Age 20
Yeah, no shit... really?
How the holy hell do you fial so hard that you downshift from 5th to 2nd on accident?
PS: That would be missing 2 gears, not a gear.

what the juice....I was expecting pictures of a car being broken into...
anyway, nice going with driving your car carefully. now open it up a little and let her do what she was meant to do...

I would have run it down the 1/4 and probably done a trackday before it came close to getting 1000 miles on it.
Break in is for chumps, well all engines need a break in, to bad it actually happens in the first 10 or 20 miles.

more like 1-4 miles, a couple people i know worked in those car lots where they off load brand new cars, best believe the first 0.1 miles to 1.0 was at WOT and im sure the 1.0-10.0 to the dealer was similar...
break in is for old people thats what a warranty is for. I also rate this thread 0 out of 10
