a few years back - I got an extended warrantee a couple of months prior to my original warantee expiring. The dealer had to inspect the car as part of the deal - and all they found was that the orig battery was about to die. That warantee paid for a faulty knock sensor and a few other items (this was on my '98 Maxima).
When I got my '06 350ZR, I also got the Nissan Security Plus - I believe it was@$1300 - 5 yr, 60k miles - or something like that..

When I bought my used 2004, the previous owner had paid $1800 for the Gold Nissan EW. He had never used it and now its been 2 more years and I've never used it. I was sent to the local dealer for an inspection and then I could transfer it.
IMO like any insurance, its only worth it if you need it, car insurance and life insurance comes to mind, although with life insurance you never get the benefit, its your relative)
Something to think about it. When you read the policy, there is a lot not really covered and many ways for them not to honor this or that. The other issue/fact is that it isn't honored if you haven't done every required maintenance (which is every 3700 miles). I think that if you put that money in a mutual fund (of course right now it sucks) and added the money that you would spend on that maintenance visit, that you can do yourself, into that mutual fund, you probably would be money ahead.

I just got quoted on a after market warranty through Nissan - 6 years (from the date of purchase) 80, 000 km - 2200 dollars Canadian.
Now check this out... if you don't make a claim during the warranty period you get all your money back. They even said that if you have an issue towards the end of the warranty you can pay for the issue yourself so that way you can get your 2200 back.

I just purchased an extended warranty from my local Nissan for my '06, a couple of days ago actually. I got the Gold Preferred for $1200, 72 month/75,000 miles. Because I got the car used, I believe it's a piece of mind to have especially when I don't know what the previous owner has or has not done to the car, even though the dealer said he babied the car.
Always purchase an extended warranty from the manufacturer, not an aftermarket!
