Default Nissan Extended Warranty

Hi,

Just pick up my 07 base today. Thinking about buying a nissan extended warranty from dealer. I need some advice before I drop $1800 tomorrow.

1 - is private company warranty > Nissan warranty ?
2 - whats the price range ?( got quote from don davis nissan for 2500 >< )
3 - is extended warranty worth the money? ( I know it sounds stupid, but I just want to make sure ).
4 - Is dealership the only place i can get my Nissan extended warranty ?

Please advise, any answers will help

just found this site yesterday. They sell nissan warranty cheap.

http://www.nissanwarrantystore.com/

Thanks

FYI, Nissan Warranty should not cost more than $1200-1500 at the most for the best one. Dealers make a huge making on the warranties and like to overcharge on them.

I recommend the factory warranty not aftermarkets.

WOW! Good to know. I have been looking into getting an extended warranty and my dealer told me:

1500 for a $200 deductible
1900 for a $100 deductible
2400 for no deductible

How do I go about finding a dealer who won't try and over charge me?

That is the problem. You need to know someone. I know someone who just got the 75k 6yr for $1200 no deductible.

If you were buying a POS GM or Ford I'd say get the wty for sure. These Z"s are pretty well built cars with very little trouble, especially a base.I'd pass on the wty. and just put a few bucks away evey month for the things that eventually will come up.

1: AdviCe
2: I think you have something like 30 days to get an extended warranty after you buy a new car.
3: I wouldn't get one for an '07, especially for $1800.
4: Extended warranties have crazy profit on them. Make them drop a LOT of money off before you get one.

They generally won't drop the ext wty price much because they will not make anything on it.Most wtys I have ever dealt with have about a 20% markup allowance from the underwriter.so thats 400 bucks on a 2000 wty, maybe 500 bucks max.If the dealer can't make a supported profit off of it,they likely won't sell you one.One other thing to note. The pricing and profit margin are set by the underwriter, not by the dealer. They actualy won't allow a dealer to drive the wty price up for more profit.Makes sense. If the dealer wants to much, the policies won't sell.

...I got the basic power train extended warranty on my '08 for $900. It protects all the really high priced items.

Every thing indicates these are backed by Nissan.

NEVER buy a warranty, it is a super-profit center for dealerships both new and used. Insurance is for the big stuff...

Not all parts of the Z is as well built as some claim...

That is the main reason I want a warranty. I have an 2003, and while the car has held up well with minimal issues, I have had to do a few repairs to it, and it may be more cost effective for me to get a warranty for any future part failures considering the cost of the AC system, gearbox replacement etc...

The 2003 has a list of items to look out for, and I expect to have the car for at least another 2 years.

Really the dealership I work at averages about $200 profit on the warranty's...that's not huge...and why is it that people are so set against a dealership m aking a dime...the average mark up on a car is %5, but yet you run to wal mart every week where the mark up is anywhere from %50-%300 and don't complain about them.

adviSe - it means to inform or recommend

He had it right the first time. Don't correct someone if you don't know what you are talking about.

Thanks
I always own (at least) 3 vehicles; my work truck, the family grocery-getter, and a toy. Currently they are, in oreder, an '03 Frontier, and "05 Camry, and my '06 Z. Between my wife and I, we drive about 45000 miles a year total. We usually keep vehicles 5-6 years, and about 100-120K.

In the last 15 years, I haven't spent anywhere near $1800 for repairs on all of those vehicles combined.

Extended warranties are a rip-off.

If they are indeed legit, and selling an authentic nissan warranty, then those prices are great. I'm going to look into them as well and give them a call on monday.
