Smile Yes, you can put cruise on a 350Z Base model

I picked up my 2008 350Z Base today from Aspen Sound, a local car electronics dealer. They had just finished installing a throttle-by-wire cruise control that I had purchased from the Conrad Anderson company. So far, everything is working flawlessly.

Here's a list of the parts I had to order from Conrad Anderson:
AP800 cruise control
GCT280 T-harness for 2005 and up 350Z
CMIR steering wheel control unit
Clutch safety switch
You can see pictures of this stuff on the Conrad Anderson web site, and they also have some documentation you can download.

Here's the short version of how it works: the T-harness plugs in line with the factory throttle pedal harness, and also to the AP800 cruise control unit. The AP800 also has other connections to the 350Z's wiring. When the cruise is activated, the AP800 electronically "pretends" to be the pedal through the T-harness to the car's computer.

I was impressed that the folks at Aspen Sound were willing to take on installing something they'd never seen before. I was also very pleased with the support I got from everyone at Conrad Anderson.

The kit of parts cost 400 British pounds (Conrad Anderson is in the UK). The install was about $200 here in Boise, Idaho.

Next, I think I want to install an Icom 2820H in the cubby. But only if I can find or build an antenna that won't make the car look like crap.

Keep me posted on how this works out for you. This is one of the only options I regret not picking up on my 08 Z. Glad to hear that somebody finally did it.

cruise control, you must travel a lot to use this feature. Good job, but i think its a waste of money to do a mod like this.

The base was the car that you bought as a starting point for building a track, drag or show car. No bells and whisles, no frills. Or if you were too cheap to spend the extra $2K for the Enthusiast.

Or you could just barely afford a 350 but wanted one anyway, and/or didn't care about any options - just wanted the car.
And $800 for CC is a bit steep! Dayum!
