Default We should have a forum for former owners....

My way of saying I turned in my 2007 SMB Z. It was a little early, but the miles were over, and it was going to be more expensive to keep it a few more months.

I guess I won't be trying to run a 12.9 anymore, well, not for now anyway.

I enjoyed her, as did my family. She was a very reliable DD and track car. Maybe someone here will pick her up.

For now I will be driving my 2002 Infiniti I35, which is not as fast as the Z, but fast enough, with room for 5, and a LOT of comfort and features.

I may get a used HR down the road one day, or maybe a used 370Z, more likely, but that will be sometime from now.

I bought my wife a used 8 passenger minivan, Pontiac Montana, as we got rid of the Armada last October, due to gas prices and a big payment.

I will buy my next fun car outright, no more payments!

It's been fun everyone, and I will still be around checking up on things.

Gotta do what you gotta do. Hopefully you'll be able to join the "current owner" club again soon!

A really bad storm nailed my '07 with soda sized hail. I ended up selling it off and buying a fully loaded STS for the old lady.

But I still enjoy reading the forums and remembering what it was like to own a Z. Really thinking about trying for the Nismo 370Z this summer

Warren, you're out of the game for now?

I never thought I'd see that day come. I can't blame you though, priorities are essential in life.

LOL. Wait. So you ran your LEASED (you said the miles were over, so I can only assume you rented the car) Z at the track?

Awesome.

I decided if I sell the 350Z not to hang around and reminisce about the good ole days. Enthusiast new members will lead the cause.

Yes it was leased, and taken care of much better than most leased vehicles, with frequent oil changes and servicing. I also drove it easy on the street. Occasional track runs are nothing compared to daily abuse in heavy traffic. I also never ran it on a road course, unlike most of my previous sports cars, as I didn't want to abuse it.

I will own my next fun car, as having a lease was very limiting.

Russ, I sent you a pm. I will get another one day, just have to focus on family right now. My youngest son was much more upset than me, about turning it in early. He got really upset at the dealer, when he realized I was leaving it there.

I honestly haven't missed it that much. I was starting to look at it like it was the selfish mobile, with no purpose other than taking away much needed income, and not being able to take more than one person with me when I drove it.

I may get a G35/G37, or similar vehicle, next time.

Warren... my man. Sad to see your little Z rocket go. BUT... I guess I'm also glad that right now I'm finally faster for a little while. LOL Hooray!
Hey, what shifts do you work these days? I'm going to come over to Atlanta a bunch this summer. I'd love to swing through your neck of the woods and have dinner or coffee sometime.

To the rest of you guys, I've known Warren for a while, and for those that don't know him well I can go ahead and tell you that this is temporary. (Some sabbaticals are longer than others.) He'll ride out in something comfortable for a while, he'll do his research, and before we all know it he's going to have something that runs like a raped ape. LOL It may be a year or two, but this man's my idol. He can make anything fast.

Hahaa, we've come a long way since the old Prelude days! I found a picture from that day we met up at Talladega Grand Prix, where my oldest daughter Olivia had her hair spiked up from the heat. She's 9 now, and as 6 brothers and sisters!

I work evenings now, and will for the rest of the year.

BTW, what have you run in the G35? I ran the I35 on one occasion, when it was Shannon's temporary DD. It spun badly through first, due to steele track prep for FWD, even launching easily, not going wot until almost 2nd gear, it still managed a 14.6. I could have worked it down to a 14.2 or so on the same day, with a decent 60'. It was not in my best interest to beat up on her DD at the time.

I really only took it to the track once, and it was before I added a few things... but I pulled a couple 14.10's at 101.5-102mph with a 2.2-2.3 60ft. I couldn't launch it to save my life.

Right now it's probably a solid 13.90's car on street tires. I have a good buddy with a sedan that pulls 13.20's on dr's, and on the street he and I are very, very close. So I've threatened to slap his dr's on there for a couple of runs, buuuuuuut... a little nervous to do that given my past track record with, uh, "longevity" on my vehicles. haha

All in all, it's a fat pig of a G35. LOL But I dig the sunroof, navigation, and backseat.

Montgomery MSP... we can get with Trey to see when the next time the group will be heading down there. I want to get a run or two in with the DR's.

Life is so much better when you don't spin 1-3.

C & D or Road & Track (I got both yesterday, can't remember which one it was in) had a brief blurb on the Nismo 370 - goes on sale in June according to them. Usual Nismo upgrades plus a bump in HP. I'll see if I can scan it and post it here
tomorrow.
