Default BUY new Z or replace Trans?

The car i bought 6 weeks ago has the syncros completely gone. Its at the local Nissan dealer cause i had an extended warranty i bought through the Audi dealer i got it from. Long story short the warranty company screwed me over and they aren't covering it. The dealer is a piece and don't care that i got screwed. the Nissan dealer said they would try and help me out by getting me into a 06' roadster touring they have but it has a 21k price tag since it only has 30k on it. They said that the most they could give me for my car would be around 6k since it needs a new trans.

The toss up is whether to buy a new Z or replace the trans. pricing out a trans came out to be around $3500 w/ new drive shaft and labor. I would have done the work myself if i knew i was going to be paying for the fix.

thanks,

I appreciate the faith you have in your fellow Z owners but if I did it, that $1,800 would only be the beginning of a sad saga that would end with me having the car towed with various parts attached and others carted away. Total price = $5,000 for my DIY...

I may have missed something, but since you have a warrenty, why is it not covered?

Exactly.

You're getting royally screwed if you buy that 06 roadster.

1. they over inflate the price of the 6MT fix to lower the trade in
2. they're going to screw you on trade in anyway, just cuz they can.
3. they rape you again on the 06 roadster purchase
4. transmission grinds again on the 06 and the cycle repeats.

My recommendation is to pewp in a paperbag and light it on fire. Leave it on the service manager's desk. Then go to another dealer.

Does that $21k include the negative $3k difference between what you owe ($9k) and the amount they will give you for yours ($6k)? If not, won't that make the purchase amount $24k for the ZR?

Also, they are basically saying that your Z is worth $9,500 when you consider what they are going to give you for it plus the cost of the new tranmission. I doubt you would be happy only getting that much for it.

If it was mine, I would call around to some local import mechanics or even a tranmission only shop and get an estimate based on what the Nissan dealership told you that you need. Good luck with what ever you do!

Can we stickie this? Lately there have been alot of threads on people wanting to purchase high mileaged Z's because of the price. It may help some new buyers reconsider. Just a thought.

That roadster is way overpriced. I had the chance to buy a 2008 GT roadster with 10k miles for 23k, but i hate how the convertibles look so i got a brand new for the a little more

^ Sorry but I don't understand. Don't you have documentation of the warrenty information from when you bought the car? Why aren't they honoring it.

I got that thing that scotch gaurds the seats from spill, with they must replace if they can not get the stain out. Dealer says its a 5 year gaurentee or something

If they didn't honor it I would be in that dealership every day acting like a raving lunatic until they honored their agreement. One thing that pisses me off more than anything is when people don't stand by their word.
