Need Legal Advice about my Z. Can anyone help?
Here's my situation. I was parked in a 20min zone at school (University) in my Z and apparently i was there 21min because as i was walking out to my car, it was getting ready to be towed away. The back tires were off the ground, and for some reason my drivers side door was open. Im not trying to get out of the ticket...i'm willing to pay the $70 fine because i was in the wrong and was there too long, however, they incurred damage to my locking mechanism when they jimmied my car door open. I just took it to the dealer and it cost me $120 to fix.
My question is, is there any way I can get the parking department to pay for the damage they incurred to my Z by jimmying the door open? Should they pay it? If anyone knows anything about the law, or if i have a case here i'd really appreciate the help. Thanks.

All I know is that towing companies are like the mafia. They are ruthless, dont give a crap about the law and getting your money back will be more hassle than its worth. I would however go visit with the dean of students at your freking University...damn I hate Univ parking.
That's f***ed up. They cannot break into your car just to tow it. I would of called the police on the spot and or beat the living **** out of that guy towing.
For real though. Call the police and ask them if it is legal for the towing company to break into your car in order to tow it. Also, as a student at the school, you probably had to sign some paperwork about parking rules etc. Ask to get a copy of that. I have NEVER heard of a towing company having to jimmy a window in order to tow a car. Something isn't right

Well he "probably" jimmied the door to take off the parking break. Honestly you probably have no grounds for a lawsuit or anything. They got it right when they said towing companys were like the mafia, they basically have the right to do anything to tow your car when you in the wrong.
That is totally f**ked up! Towing companies are scum of the earth. (Just like car salesmen
) How nice it must be to legally break into cars and steal them for a living. Don't worry, God has a special place waiting for them. [Evil Laugh]Mwuahh ha ha ha!!!!!![/Evil Laugh]

That's not justified to destroy your car over a minutes worth of time. Maybe you can check and see if cars can be towed immediately, or whether there's some extra time required before towing is allowed. I don't know, though, it's just a hunch, and a probably a long shot.
One way they time that is to mark your tire with chalk when they see your car there, and then come back in 20 minutes to see if the same car is still there. Can they even prove it was 20 mins?

Nope I know here in Georgia if your over the time limit by even a few seconds they can "legaly" tow you. It really sucks but well within the law, they can do this because it is posted.
Ive been ILLEGALLY towed here in the DFW area. In Las Calinas, my old vehicle was literally stolen. I left it for 7 hours in a private lot (on a Friday night) that had a sign that read no parking for 24 hours or more. Then I paid $260 f***ing dollars to get it back. I am still pondering revenge...thankd alot, I had almost forgotten >:-P

Here's why I have a negative attitude towards car salesmen:
1) they're overly aggressive
2) they lie
3) they act like they're doing me a favor
4) they care about the sale ($$$) more than my happiness AND IT SHOWS!
When was the last time you went to JC Penny to buy some jeans and some sales guy was all over you saying "Those look great on you. What do I have to do to get you to walk out with those jeans today? Let me go talk to my manager. Great news! We're having a 2% off sale on all jeans today. I've never seen him take that much off. They'll probalby go back to full price tomorrow so let's head over to the check out line. I've got a lot of forms to fill out but I'm going to walk you to the cashier personally."
Out of all the dealerships and car lots I've ever been to, I've only had 1 normal, comfortable experience. Stereotypes are stereotypes for a reason.

Hmm...I'll bet this thread is going to end up being about 6 pages now, heh.
If you feel like you hate salespeople for ripping you off, it's your fault you got ripped off! IMHO. I always research the hell out of a big purchase like a car and I have the will power to wait until I find the deal I want.
Now...having said that, I tend to hate car salespeople as well. They do lie. They do cheat. They do NOT care about the WELL BEING of the customer or about how the customer feels AFTER the purchase. I am sure there are exceptions, but car salesmen have their bad rap for a reason.
Honestly...car dealerships are often run by IDIOTS, I wish I had the money to open my own, because in 10 years I would be blowing the competition out of the water. Automobile manufacturers are now making great products, too bad the sales industry is lagging by about 20 years as far as modern sales technique is concerned.
I am not a salesman, but I have taken a couple of selling courses in college. If a car dealership simply fit you to the RIGHT car, and stayed up front (for the most part) about the sale, then they would have more repeat business. I do not see a problem with an inflated car sticker price, but I think that the 4 hour negotiations to try to squeeze every last penny are a sham and leave a bad taste in the buyer's mouth. Not to mention the LIES! If I owned a dealership and I found out that a salesman lied to a customer...I would kick him to the curb, but most modern dealerships ENCOURAGE it!! Morons.
