Unhappy 350Z+dark highway+couch=... *PICS*

It's 2am, the day that all the students are moving between apartments in Davis. I'm headed down a pretty much unlit 2 lane highway in front of a small pack of cars, and I see a big white object come into range of my HID headlights.

A moment passes by and my brain goes
"what the **** is that?"

I slam on the brakes, but I have a car right behind me so I don't want them hitting my rear end. I consider veering out of the way, but I don't have time to check my blind spot and I know if my tire blows during an emergency maneuver I'm proper ****ed.

At about 25-30mph, I make impact.

There's a loud scraping noise, and I think my tires are gone. I ease off the brakes and coast to the side, where one other guy has already pulled over after hitting what I'm guessing was a couch, but only found remnants of.

A few minutes later I would pull out a 2.5 foot chunk of wood from the underbody of my car. A total of about 12 people ended up hitting this thing. I was the second person, but only the first 3 people experienced major damage.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the carnage

Before the incident...

p.p.s. I crossposted this myself from OT for those ya who are on the "in"

you sound okay about this, if it was me, I would be looking for DNA evidence on the couch to find the a$$hole that left a f***ing couch in middle of the road

Holy crap! That makes me cringe--I'm with 350zroadster! Get DNA evidence off that couch and go beat that jagoff to a bloody pulp!

That is so painful to look at.

When you find the owner...duct tape him to the remains of the couch and throw him in the middle of the road.

Sux...on the positive side. The stock front fascia is only $238.

on a side note....the idea of pulling DNA evidence on "couch" to find the "*******" that did that.......makes me shudder.

A state trooper in TX would avoid the couch then speed on to the donut shop...or the speedtrap.

Default I hate these kind of posts...

Sorry man, I just hate seeing damaged Zs.

I guess looking on the bright side, at least you were able to walk away & you can still drive your Z. You are very fortunate that you didn't have some moron rear ending you.

Good luck with the repairs... Ditto N74DV,
...time for a Nismo or other aftermarket front end

As far as going with aftermarket parts, how do insurance companies and body shops usually deal with this? Can I order the aftermarket park myself, then get a check from the insurance company for the value of the OEM part? From what I could tell the body shop I'm working with wants to buy the parts themselves. If anyone knows of any Nissan dealers that stock the Nismo front end and maybe side skirts, please reply...

i was the second person to hit it. the first guy actually didn't have terrible damage either. *shrug*, I never saw the thing when it was entirely intact so I'm not too sure

That's a shame. I've grazed a deer, run over an armadillo and some furry woodland animal, but never a couch. I drove around 2 days cooking armadillo under my Z.
