Default Hill Starting .. How is the RPM determined?

One of the biggest concerns i had before i got my 350Z was all the slope starts i would have to have to do on a daily basis. . I've gotten use to it for the most part ... But does anyone know why the RPM is changing at different times?

Example : On a slope ... In 1st gear, with clutch all the way down and right foot on brakes ... Rpm would be 800-900 rpm.. (Easy to release clutch so it catches w/o stalling)

Example 2: (Same scenario as Ex. 1), but the rpm would be at 600 rpm or less .. (Thus making it harder for the clutch to catch w/o stalling).

Does anyone know why it changes from time to time? And any ideas to make it stable at higher rpm when in gear and clutched in?

Thx

I know this might sound silly but are you trying to release the brake and add gas with your right foot as you're releasing the clutch? If you are, maybe you should consider using parking brake while you're trying to catch the freaction zone so that your both feet are on the gas and the clutch and you don't have to worry about stalling. Just my .02 cents.

Default No no..

What i was told to do is ..... keep your right foot on the brake to prevent it from rolling back ... when the light turns green ... release the clutch to the point where its engaged and can prevent rolling back .. then you release the brakes and add the gas, and take off =)

What im asking is just why is it sometimes the RPM Is different when i have it in 1st gear and clutched all the way in?

I just quickly give it gas and let the brake off... I dont engage without my foot on the gas, thats just asking for it to stall.

but anyway, how long has the car been running, it will idle a bit higher when its cold.

Don't know, man. Do you have the A/C on or something? Were you sitting there idling for a while or just coming to a stop like at a stop sign? Was the car all the way warmed up?

My car idles at 750 RPM on the nose. If the A/C is on it may be at 900 or so. Either way, it doesn't really jump around except for when the car is cold. When cold it starts at about 1500 RPM and gradually drops down to 750 when warm. Sometimes if you use the engine for braking, then step on the clutch, the RPM's will drop for a fraction of a second. Could it be something like that? Just sitting there though, it is consistently 750.
