Default Opinions wanted: trading my wrx for 350z

Hey guys... I realize that I'm posting on a 350z forum but I want to see what you guys say. I've got an 05 WRX that I have done quite a bit to... I am meeting up with a guy today on a basically stock 04 350z. The z has a little less miles than my Suby does. We're basically talking to do a straight trade. I live in CO, so our winters aren't bad at all. Even on the bad days, I have a newer Dodge Ram... The 350z will be my daily driver and toy for the most part. I know this is totally an off-the-wall post, but what do you guys think? Would I be making a good move? Both cars have clean titles, no problems, etc...

My WRX:

Look at Edmunds.com "True Market Value" of both cars to get an idea if the values are fair.

The Z is most likely more expensive to insure (2nd highest on the insurance rate list).

how much money have you dumped into your wrx? that would play a role on my personal decision. do I expect the other vehicle owner to give a **** about how much money I've invested? not really.

I'd keep the wrx unless you are dying for a change, that is one nice looking wrx..

I'd stick with the subie due to the work done on it.

Thanks for the replies guys... I am definitely wanting a change... Wanting something a little more professional looking I guess... I love the rex, but just think that it's time for something else. Not really worried about the z being as fast. They're fun to drive and I really like the looks. Any further thoughts?

I don't think the Z will have the professional appearance you are after.

G35's on the other hand, are just about as fun to drive, and pass that professional appearance deal ..

sounds like you may be leaning more towards the Z since you already have a trade lined up. not saying z's can't or don't look classy, but they still have that 'racer' image attached to them.

Welcome. With respect why did you buy a WRX instead of a 350Z? Why is the 350Z suitable for you now?

Get the Z. While your WRX is really nice, it does scream boy racer which is your concern. I think a stock Z, even with some subtile exterior mods to give it some individuality, still retains a professional image. A G Coupe may be a good alternative, especially if you could use back seats and a little more luxury than sport. A G sedan is a little too sedate IMO. The G downside is the extra $ difference or miles/years for an even trade. Get the Z, have fun for a few years. Get something else later...

i say keep the wrx. If I interviewed someone that drove that car that would be bonus points IMO. if its that big a deal drive your truck to professional venues and use the wrx for a weekend car. I love my Z and I wouldn't trade it for your car but if I already had the wrx i don't think i would trade for the stock z

Looks like you actually want a change since you are thinking of trading a 4dr sedan for a 2dr sports. The only thing I can say is that you would love the Z with no regrets if you decide to go with the trade. Good luck.

they're both really nice cars and its a really hard decision, but you seem to be set on the 350z.

either way, I'm sure you'd love the feel of the 350z better than a sports sedan.

Well we met up and drove each others cars. I like the Z a lot, even though its a little step down power-wise. He loved my wrx and was ready to trade, but I had a couple hang-ups. His Z had a few decent sized dings, one on the drivers door, two on the passenger side door. It also had 2 small cracks on the front bumper along w/ a scuff (from a parking block or whatever). CONTEPLATING! Ugh! hah...

I'm talking to him about either fixing the dings or giving me the $$ to and doing the trade. I think I'll do it if so.

check kbb.com and both car's values.. although your mods don't give you an ROI take the dollar amount into account and make a choice..

I would keep the wrx, it looks very well done and if i were to go to a 350, i would make sure its an HR....My last car was actually an 04 STI so i've also been in this situation.

Keep the WRX (minus the pink STI sticker). An 04 z is nothing special.
