Mortgages aren't necessarily expensive. After the tax deduction from interest, my house payments are cheaper than rent for a 1 bedroom apartment around here.

I once helped a Doctor/Friend with his taxes. (not an anesthesiologist, but a surgeon) He was paying something like 1/3 of his gross pay in insurance and he had NEVER been sued.
Scary.

My gross annual income is greater than 3X the total value of my car.
I am 25 yrs old, single with no dependents, yet I am still not quite cash flow positive. Ahh, the perks of living in NYC. I bet I pay more in monthly parking fees ($500) than some of you pay to lease your Zs.

Let's see
my salary is is almost 4 times as much as Z cost. That is however, mine and my wifes $126,000. If it's mine alone it falls just short of twice as much Z x 2 = salary. Of course I have +900 mortgage, sub 450 2001 Grand Cherokee payment. Insurance for all 3 cars is, $1440 per 6 months and I have no payment of my work Jeep.

Maybe someone aready said this; I didn't read all of the posts that had salary information. But, it would appear that a better question for the thread would have been "what percentage of your net disposable income is your Z and Z insurance payment?"
As some have pointed out, each person is at a different financial point in their lives. Some have mortgages, some are younger and pay more insurance, etc. It really boils down to how much money is available to pay for your Z and what is the amount of those payments. Hence, (cost of Z and Z insurance) divided by (net disposable income, or whatever metric you want to use).
My $0.02, which is < $NDI

Geez, you all are doing very well for yourselves! Is it just me- or is there anyone else who's yearly income is slightly higher (about 1.5x)than the sticker of their beloved 350z? I am 22, no family, and think I'm in a pretty stable position, I applaud those who are successful and juggle mortgages, multiple vehicles, families, etc. I can only hope that when I get to that point in my life that I am as stable as some of you.

It also helps that the state of California has a maximum $250000 cap on pain & suffering lawsuits. Helps lower the insurance premiums a little bit.

There was a HUGE slump in the number of medical school graduates applying/entering anesthesiology residencies over the last 10 years, and it's only just now beginning to pick up in popularity - mainly because of the lifestyle, job market, and pay resulting from the shortage of qualified anesthesia resident graduates from about 1991 to 1998 or so.
I was intially surprised too at how well jobs paid, especially here in Los Angeles, but now I'm seeing starting salaries at $350k - $450k in LA and Orange counties as the norm.

Don't anesthesiologists basically have very little salary growth over time due to the fact that they are employed by their hospital/medical group? A friend of mine left the field because he didn't mind his pay when he was young but didn't want to still be making less than $300-400K when he was 50 while all of his surgeon friends were making double or triple that. This was a few years ago, maybe things have picked up.
Incidentally, he's now making about $800K at my firm (but he's only 35 or thereabouts).
