Default Selling my Z. Fair Price?

Hey all. I've been lurking around for a while but this is my first post. I'm selling my 05 Ann. Ed. to get a manual Z. I'm hoping to get a 2006 track or '07 enthusiast without spending much more than 1 or 2k. To get to the point I was offered $17200 for the car and wondering if you guys felt that was a fair price. It's a good bit under kbb value but that seems to be the way the Z market is now(please correct me if I'm wrong). Any input is appreciated and you can make fun of me for buying an AT as long as you have some good input as well. Thanks

That's definitely a good price. If someone is giving you $17200 for it, SELL IT. The market for sports cars these days isn't that big, and you can get a lightly used '07 for as much as you were offered. Don't gamble with an '06.

By the way, your listing on autotrader says that it has a 300hp engine. It doesn't. You should change that so there's no confusion from buyers. Auto cars never got the 300hp rev-up.

Also, I didn't realize that 35th Anniversary cars actually came in auto too. I thought the rev-up engine was one of the main selling points of this trim. So basically it's just the special paint, wheels, and badges on your car, right?

Car looks good. I don't see what is wrong with buying an AT car since I did consider buying one myself (still thinking). I think $17,200 is a great price to sell your car. Personally I would try to haggle you down lower to around $15-16k but you should definitely take that offer since you may not get another offer as high as that again. 05-07's sells for around $18k in my area so good luck!

Thanks for the quick answers. I was aware of the difference between the hp in manual and automatic but I took that part of the description from a dealer on Autotrader who was selling the exact same car in AT(Carmax I believe). That car was within 20 miles of me and I didn't want someone to not look at mine because of that discrepancy So I'm just going to leave it like that until I am corrected by a potential buyer. But to answer your question I believe the only difference between 35th and G.T. are the badges(there are vent like things inside the doors that say 35th), wheels, and the seats are black with red trim and have etching on them. And obviously the 6mt's have the rev up. Ok well another guy should be coming soon and he seemed serious about 17500 but if he doesn't buy it I will sell to the guy for 17200. Then the annoying part will be over and time to shop

+1000

RUN, don't walk to the bank with that check! That is a very good price for an automatic '05.

But no, you will not get a very nice '07 for that what you sell your car for. Think about it, why the hell would someone pay $17,200 '05 auto if they could pay that much for an '07 manual? Unless the '07 is a POS.

I have found multiple 2007 "enthusiast" models for sale within my price range. However upon inspection of pics none of them have steering wheel controls(cruise, audio, etc). Was I correct in arguing with the salesman that his car was a base, not an enthusiast? The guy even admitted to it not having cruise but would not come off his statement that it was the Enthusiast model. Everything I have read on here says no cruise on steering wheel=base.
Here is the car I liked, but it has to be a base and I really wanted the LSD and traction control. http://atlanta.craigslist.org/ctd/1191868037.html

Congrats on selling it!

Here is a great description on the trim levels; http://www.3 5 0 z-tech.com/zwiki/350Z. Just remove the spaces between the 350z.

If that is factory leather then it is not a base. But I have seen leather added to many base Zs either by the dealer or owner of the car so don't let that fool you.

You are absolutely correct. No cruise = base, no matter what. No spoiler either. Don't get a base. TCS and VDC are important in a tail-happy car. Just look at all the dorks in here crashing theirs. I'm not really sure why that car has leather, though. I didn't think that bases were available with it. Maybe it's an aftermarket job or a seat swap.

Btw, congrats on getting a great amount for your car. You got lucky.

Thanks I'm ready to get the cash and get busy shopping. So far I have found 4 different 2007 enthusiasts within haggling(might not be a word, lol) range of my budget, and EVERY one of them turned out to be a base. Ive been diligent in calling and informing each dealer of their advertising mistake however none of them believe me/ or know they are lying.
Whats you guys take on this car? The high bid was so low I am tempted to call and offer in the 18k range. But something just seems wrong here, maybe I am crazy. Anyone have unlimited carfax's and can run the VIN for me? The seller seemed to dodge my carfax question.

I already think you are the man for being able to sell an auto '05 for $17,500. If you get an '07 Nismo for $18,000, you are a god! Let us know how that turns out.

Haha the comment about me being a god if I do get the car that cheap is what worries me. I'm going to call and see how cheap I can get it tomorrow and if he comes down enough I will run the carfax. If the carfax is clean and he accepts a reasonable offer Im going to be one happy Z owner
