Default Special Problems in 06 and 07/08 Z's

Hi Everyone,

I'm looking into purchasing an 06 or 07/08 350z in the near future; aside for the differences on paper (HP, Torque, etc), is there anything else that differentiates the 06's from the 07's and 08's? Also, as I have read from this forum, the 03's apparently have a tire feathering problem. Do the '06 and the 07/08 models have special problems like this that aren't found on any of the other years? If so, how crippling of a problem would you think that this is?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Don't get an 06. Get the 07+ for the HR motor.

Listen to what the others have said and go for nothing less than an 07-08. I bought a used '07 (with 8k miles) earlier this year and did not even consider buying any year model prior to that just because for the deals that are out there now and for the relative difference in performance it was worth the minor cost differences. I've had no issues so far with my '07 besides the fact that the mp3 FM adapter I use will sometimes confuse the Tire Pressure Monitor Sensor and cause it to flash, but that's a quick fix and doesn't happen often

Go with the 07+. Don't gamble with the 06 for the oil problem or the earlier ones for multiple things.

2005 is one of the safest years to buy for the Z, only problem was oil consumption in the 35th anniversary edition. (had the same motor that went in the early 06s)

Thank you for your responses. Based on what you all have said, it looks pretty unanimous that the 07/08 Z is a better choice to purchase, even with the extra cost.

I was looking at a red 07 touring in Maine, it was being sold for $20,320 @ 22k miles.... it was an absolute steal, but some sneaky bastard bought it before I was able to do anything.

I guess probably a new member saw your question and bought it before all your questions were answered. There's plenty out there to choose from. Take your time and never settle for anything less than what you initially planned for.

Wish I could afford the newer Zs. I'm looking to buy an '03,guess I'll have to spend the extra to get the tire issue fixed.

I have an 2003 and I have no known issues. Hit and miss??? I don't know. You just have to drive it and do your homework on it. The negative thing about the older Z's are no more warranty. GLW your find and purchase.

I have an '06 automatic. Only manual trannies can have the oil consumption problem. My car runs like a dream and I've had no problems at all. I'm very happy with my car and feel fortunate to have bought a Z before the stupid hood hump appeared to comply with safety regulations.
