Default Oil pressure problem...

I noticed today that my Z's oil pressure gauge was showing around 30-35 PSI while driving, only 60psi under hard acceleration. Then, one the way home tonight, at idle it would bottom out at zero, the oil light would come on for a second, then turn off.

I took it in to the shop but they can't check it out until tomorrow.

Any ideas as to what may be wrong? I checked the oil and there is plenty. I think it may be the oil filter.... I had my oil changed 4K miles ago by SpeeDee. I hope they used the right filter!

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I don't think it is a "wrong filter" problem since the low oil pressure indication did not occur for 4000 miles. If it was 4000 miles ago then you are overdue for an oil change. Did you mean 400 when you said 4K?

If you checked and there is plenty of oil, it could be a bad oil sending unit, or even a bad gauge. It is definately something that should be checked.

Thanks for the info. It has been 4000 miles since the oil change, and there was still plenty of oil. I hope it is a bad gauge or sending unit....
