Hey, I have a base 2007 350z. It is bone stock and essentially my first standard car. Can someone explain to me why the Z feels so slow in first gear? I love the pull of the engine in 2-4 but unless i'm flooring it in 1st gear it feels slow. Am I just imagining this or is there an explanation such as the gearing? Any opinions are appreciated. I have my flame suit on

 

maybe your not pushing the gas hard enough

first gear feels the fastest for me i dunno what you're talking about haha

 

I guess what I mean to say is that it feels slow because in first gear at 4k rpm i'm only going like 20 mph... haha idk what i'm saying.

 

It hits redline pretty quickly if that is what you mean. But since you don't know what you are saying, I guess we don't either...

 

Are you saying that like starting from 1st gear at a traffic light, unless you give it quite a bit of gas, the Z is kinda slow compared to others?

cause thats kinda what i feel.

 

you do know that in 1st gear you can only do up to about 40mph max right

Do you mean 1st gear is too short?

 

I think what he means is first gear is too long, making his car "feel" like it doesn't have power. Welcome to long gears my friend, upgrade to 4.083's if you want a fun ride

Really? I dont know 1st gear feels really powerful for me. It may be because I have a tune. Ive heard that nissan limits 0-27 mph to only like 70% throttle? Please, correct me if im wrong but I think ive heard that somewhere.

 

mine is like 32 mph. stock tranny/gears, 2006

 

..... you're not supposed to be able to go 60mph in 1st gear. One reason is to put less stress on your clutch.

I live 1st gear a quarter mile at a time...

 

Its a dam 6 spd! Use a diff gear if you want to haul bawls!!
