So today, a friend of mine and myself were cruising back to my house after dinner at applebees when i see the good old red and blue pulling up behind him. I was a little in front, and figured he was getting pulled over for his tinted tails.

I pulled over too because he doesnt really know where i live and needed to follow me. first mistake.

so we pull over and the officer tells me he got BOTH of us doing 57 in a 45

my digital was reading 47 and my analog was in that area. I want to know if theres any way to pull any diagnostic data to prove my innocence or if i just have to hire a lawyer and go to court with it. any help is appreciated, thanks people.

well i know sometimes data can be pulled from a car's ecu in the event of a CEL (yes, it does tell you what things were occurring at the time such as sensor voltages, coolant temps, etc) not sure if our ecu's hold any of that information even if there is no cel, just kind of like a temporary memory cache or anything.

Id say no, although some cars log that type of stuff that the fuz can pull after an accident like speed at airbag deployment etc. You shouldnt have stayed at the scene of the crime I always pull into a parking lot to wait or something like that.

yea, i know i was dumb to pull into the same plaza, and im coming from a vehicle with a siemens ecu that had a similar capability i always used to use for diagnosing my cel issues like i said. oh well, thanks anyway. Gotta love small town redneck police and their profiling ways...

I usually ask to see my speed on the gun. Most times they try to BS you or try and bluff with a..."Are you challenging me boy?"...One time I actually got off because he said: "ok, stay RIGHT there"...then came back in about 5 minutes and said: "Boy, its your lucky day, its been giving me problems, and I can get it to show a speed" ....thats because I wasnt speeding, I pay close attention to the road, my speed, and my handy radar detector.

 

One of they guys I autox with drives a Nismo Z...and he said it definitely has a data recorder (he had just been denied warranty work on his transmission based on the data that the dealer pulled from the black box). I can't remember everything he said it logged (I think he brought up top speed, throttle position, g-forces, etc). He did say that 08+ 350Zs have them (as well as the GTR, 370Z, and I think he even said the Maxima has it).

I'm not saying he knows everything about this thing...just passing on what he told me.

 

nismo has the black box from what other nismo owner told me, and the same like properid mention, they denied warranty work on this persons nismo cause they pull the info from the black box. I was told that the nismo got it and the gtr has it also.

 

Asking to see the gun is a ballsy move imo, being respectful and cooperative gets you further depending on the officer and offense. Once again just my opinion
