My 2 cents...
I was parked at the Salvation Army Govt. Buliding respectful ppl I thought. Its about 5/6 at night everybodys off work I'm waitin on my Sti buddy. This old man (50-60) driving a 15 passenger van tries 2 do a 3 point turn mind you theres at least 10 other parking spots he wants the 1 directly behind my car. The parking is goin well then he decides he wants 2 be a ****!!! He bumps the rear of my car I don't over react no damag... yet! As he bumps he keeps going forward after contact is made... I c my paint starting 2 peel and ripple up. I start cursin and yelling he curses and yells back.
Cops arrive immediatly (young guy sports car) your wrong he curses me out tells me 2 move. I explain 2 him I'm parked against a center block cant go forward and hes got me pinned from the rear im sandwiched!
End of story Old man charged with damage and I'm told I can never return 2 the Salvation Army.
Moral of story no matter where you park a D*** will always be a D*** and try and flick yours!

Oh yeah I get this way all the time. I dislike having to ever park my car next to other cars in strange parking lots. All it takes is that one idiot to put a huge ding in your car with their door. I'm also pretty **** about where an how I street park...I never wedge into a parallel parking spot if it's too tight. Somebody bashed in the rear bumper of my buddies G35C one day when he was parked in one of the busier downtown districts.

I just found 2 small door dings on my car coming back from lunch. The sun was shining on it in a way I could see it. Blah! Not sure how long they've been there. It couldn't have happened at work since I park away from people. Could have happened at my condo complex and my neighbor's car hit it.:-/

The one time I drove my car to the club, I decided to taxi on home instead of drinking and driving. The next morning I head back and my car is busted up and gutted out with all my chit jacked.

Probably should have just DUIed it.

One of the reasons I don't DD my Z is the insecurity I have with parking. Like most of you guys here, I try to partk further away or closer to upscale cars if I can't get exclusivity. There's always that one junk car that pulls up that irritates the **** out of me. Another thing is parking side by side with other cars because of door dings. I try to parallel park as much as possible to avoid those situations which is why I prefer to bring my car only to certain places. The only time I feel secure is when I take my car out with a bunch of other cars so we all park together Less attention on just one car.

i tend to look at the surround parking, if it looks bad. then i'll park farther than usual.

but i wouldn't mind someone stealing my car, as long as my car isn't found. GAP insurance FTW! if stolen it would be my excuse to upgrade

I only drive My Z to school around once a month when it's nice out because there are so many haters and I'm always afraid that someone is just gonna be a jackass and do somthing to it.

I only hate it when someone parks so close to your car that you cant open the door. I am everybit of 6'3", and have a hard enough time as it is trying to get in. I dont need som DB making it any harder. The coupe door is long, so we need a good bit of room to get the door open. I actually had to get in from the passenger side one time because some one in my apartment complex pulled in so crooked that I couldnt even fit in between the 2 cars ..made me want to open my door once I got in and leave them a little reminder not to do that again.

It was about as close as this:

In the case tht the spot is already taken I bring it to the end of the parking lot and park there lol.. I'm never bring my car to a bar cuz last time tht happened someone stole my b pillars..never again!

I park away in the distant unused areas of parking lots when I go shopping. I do not park parallel...period. I live in an apartment where I'm forced to park with other cars but I keep a padded car cover on the car so that a) nobody really can see what type of car it is and b) if somebody does hit the car opening their door at least there's something there to protect the paint. Obviously this will only go so far but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. So far no damage at all in over 3 years.

Nope. I'm concerned with its engine (Mobil 1, Purolator's Pureone filter), cooling system, transmission, electrical system, tires, etc. You know, stuff that may cause me to be marooned somewhere at night. Scratches, nicks & dings are part of life, dudes. There will ALWAYS be inconsiderate scalawags who don't care 'bout other people's property.

Thank goodness for my garage and not being in the nightclub business anymore.

I rather do the walk than to take the chance.

Yes life happens and their are either careless, haters or oops people out there. However I made the investment, work hard as a teacher (so not much money) and like to take care of what I own. It will last longer this way. Even my DD an 85 camry with 120k god awful ugly, i take care of it and not abuse it (mostly fear that it'll fall apart as im driving lol) seriously though, take care of your life and belonging and they will take care of you. yes obvious the internals and maintainance as well. i change oil every 2k with mobile 1. ****, HELL YES

I park my car at home depot 5 days a week because i work there. I try to park far from the rest of the cars so they dont hit my car with the shopping carts or anything. One day i come out and theres 2 deep key lines on my trunk and one long key on each door and fender. I then realized that it was the damn Day Laborers standing in the parking lot drinking their 40s. They are the biggest haters and i used to feel sorry for them but not anymore. All they do is drink and trash the parking lot and get in the way.
