I bought my '03 Z about a year ago. Within the last year or so the value has dropped so much due to this stinkin economy I now owe more than its worth.

And on top of that I am about fed up with this stupid window issue. While still on the lot the stinkin window got stuck down due to motor issues. ( Passenger side ). Now, about a year later the drivers side has what the dealer calls "an intermittant problem" which usually indicates that the motor is going out. Cost? 500 bucks for parts and labor.

On top of that there is the issue with the window only part of the time dropping down when you open the doors. Sometimes you go to close the door and it hits the lower part of the roof where it meets up with the window because the window is all the way up. Also, the passenger window only rolls down or up when the doors are locked. Is this normal? Are there some type of delays or timers in the windows because sometimes my windows dont move at all untill you wait a few minutes and dont touch the switch.

Vent over, I feel better........

You can buy the window motor at advanced auto - limited lifetime warranty... ~$140 to $180.00. But before spending your hard earned duckets... Meander thru this thread - It suggests attempting to service the motor before replacing it - by cleaning it... If that doesn't fix it - Then replace the motor... Lot of how-to hints on making the task simpler

https://my350z.com/forum/maintenance...r-brushes.html

If after you've cleaned or replaced the motor - your window still does not move down slightly when you open the door - follow the recalibration procedure below.

It hurts but take consolation in the fact that it is not just the Z that has lost its value. There are people living in million dollar homes that would not sell for half the mortgage. Just enjoy your car because either way, you still have to pay for it.

See my DIY window motor thread in the "Maintenance" section. Forget about the stealership...

Understand the frustration. Nissan parts installed by Nissan are guaranteed for 12 months (check your job order). 13 months later its time for a new motor on your dime.

didn't read entire thread. everyones car value has gone down dramatically, not just the z's. hows this for an example? girlfriend traded in a car for 3 grand on her used accord, and has been making payments for a year. she is 4 grand upside down still. I wouldn't think someone with a tradein/down payment would be upside down : P

as far as window motors.. do it yourself. the labor is so simple once you get in there. probably take you a couple of hrs to do it.. there is a DIY guide for it. buy the window motor at a local auto parts store for around 150$, they come with a lifetime guarantee...

That's what happens when you buy an older car since you can't afford a newer one.

Yeah, and buying a newer car would put you FURTHER in the hole and make you more depressed. I agree with beezee, enjoy your car...that was the point of buying it anyways...

And they say a 1000 lawyers on the bottom of the ocean is a good start...

The big 3 semi-collapse has put a hurting on everyone's opinion of American car value - used or otherwise... and the fallout is evident on Zs because of it... Funny part is the foreign dealers are still selling every thing New & Used at top dollar... But private sales and trades are worth nothing near what you would expect. Twilight Zone economics

You didnt buy the car to re-sell it did you? I can understand your frustration but remember... When you bought it at the price you paid you were excited about it. Dont worry about what the market says it's worth, worry how to make it faster and what you say it's worth

Good luck with the window.

Not like I havent enjoyed having the car. It throws a tighter doughnut, lays longer drags, and goes faster than anything I have ever been in/on other than my R1.

Problem is.....I'm having twins. Can someone please explain where I'm gonna put 2 car seats? lol, but seriously......Didn't anticipate this when I bought it a year ago.....Now I need a Tahoe or something....

Owe $10K left on my 06 MB. A recent appraisal puts it at $12-$14K. so it's lost almost two thirds of its value in less than three years. so realizing I am just going to pay it off and keep it forever, i replaced the stocke wheels with some new wheels and am settling in for the long hall. pic attached.

still deciding if i made a mistake. bought an 07 base new. hawaii 31 mid out the door. before econnomy said POOO too. So i thought it was an ok deal on the island. Still owe on it 2 years later, stupid interest rate takes 1/3 of what i pay on it. Its dumb how it says 7% even though its compounded more than that and turns out to be 33%. Ive got perfect credit too. Anyways I sometimes wish i would have bought an 240 or 260 and modded it with an sr20. Think it would have been cheaper lighter and prob quicker. However im in for the long haul and wont resell, it has 14k miles on it and i owe less than it worth so ehh. Im saving up and will be ready to pay it off in the next few months. Worth it??? I duno but I sure do love to drive it.

No, it is written correctly. You are paying 7% interest per year just like it says.

My payments were 480 a month and a 100 went to interest. They do some weird formula where the majority of the interest is paid in the begining of the loan.
I decided to pay off the car with 2 and a half years to go and said screw te interest.

That is exactly why interst is front loaded. The vast majority of loans do not go the full term so that means the bank can not earn the money it planned to make. When they gave you the money, they budgeted a 7% (example) return on their investment for 5 years (example). If/when you pay it off early it hurts the bank. As you know, at the end of the loan you pay almost no interest. So if it goes full term it all balances out.
