...hmmmm

Where in that sentence do I state that the LS engines are unreliable? I don't! I'm simply saying that a car like the Z06 that old could have some issues. Cars like Z06s tend to be driven pretty hard. So you need to be careful when buying a used car like that. Expecially if it's high mileage.

There are also lots if not a majority of Vettes bought by guys in their 50's that treat them like little babies. Really going to depend on the owner of course, but you can find vettes that have been treated like sacred alters out there.

in your position I would get an 02+ z06 and spend money making the interior feeling a little more modern.. that would really bother me.

Nothing wrong with the interior, except the dated look. People bring up interior rattle, etc... To be honest, the interior of my 350Z had some really asnnying dashboard rattles. My Vette doesn't rattle.

350Z:
-Better seats
-Better cupholder (not saying much there... They both suck for the most part)
-More passenger compartment storage space
-Speedo blocked by the steering wheel
-Better steering wheel design (however mine fell apart within 10k miles and had to be resewn)
-Good legroom
-Small trunk
-Blind spots
-Good turning radius
-Good overall performance

Z06:
-Seats decent for long road trips, not good for track use
-Has a glovebox
-Has a crappy center console storage area (little room and awkward to access)
-Very large trunk
-Functional cupholder (as long as you don't drive over 15mph)
-Shorter legroom vs 350Z
-Poorer turn radius vs 350Z
-Excellent overall performance
-Good mileage (a little better than the 350Z)

I would go with the newer car, you probably could get a leftover 08 new from a lot. I dont buy used sports cars, break in periods and abuse are a horrible way to ruin your car experience.

If its a track toy then I say go for the Z06, but if you're planning on putting more miles on the car then buy the newer one.

Corvette had a reliable run from 2002 to 2004. From 2005 on it is without doubt a rattle trap. And General Motors is bankrupt? Gee wonder why.

Id get a Z. IIRC some of the 01 Z06 had ring problems, but I dont remember how widespread that was. Too bad because I think Speedway White was a great color. There were some nice updates by the 2004 MY on the Z06, shocks clutch etc. Id still get a Z though. I went around the block yet again with a 370 vs C6/C5Z06 and 370 won out.

That's true. But there are also so those out there who drive the f#ck outta them. Especially the the Z06s.

That goes both ways! I baby the crap out of mine. I am very surprised there isnt alot of vette bashing on here. Lets face it both cars are very nice. To me there is 2 issues here. First of all unless you have a credit score of 800 or better and you have atleast half down I doubt a bank will loan $20k + for a 9yr old car. I know my local bank wouldnt give me a car loan for a 12 yr old truck. They did give me a personal loan though. And the other issue is being unique. I live in a pretty populated area atleast for WV. I rarely see other Z's at car shows (I mean almost never). But there are always 2 or 3 rows of vettes!!! ALWAYS. If you bring that up to them you here how smart they all are but I just tell them how do they think they have something different and special when there are 3 other cars there the same year and color with the exact same options! If I do see another z its never a GT and deffinitly not TT!!! Be different, you will have your 50's and 60's to buy a vette.

Get the Z please. Why would you buy a vette that's almost 3 generations old? The Z is barely a few years old and is still competitive with the newer model 370 in looks and speed.

To each his own. Besides the C2's, the C5's are the best looking of the bunch.
Personally, I don't care for the Euro styling of the C6's.

Default vette vs Z

i've had both. lucky guy i guess! to me it boils down to how either car was taken care of before hand. if taken care of both cars can and are a best in class for the money spent. if kicked in the a-- both can be a pain in the a--.
7 out of 10 times the z is a tighter built car than the vette. its what feels right to you,you have to live with either. either way both turn heads coming and going. all that being said and i can't belive i'm saying this because of v8 american muscle the vette by a nose. sorry for the ramble.
