2001 z06 vs. 2006/7 350z
well here in upstate ny, im like the only z seen around, except one other guy that lives about 15 miles from me, hes about 60 and has a stock 06 and is in love with my car...lol..a z in my area is very rare, let alone a boosted z
Not sure you understood what I meant. 01 z06 is not competitive with newer z06 whereas 07 hr is very competitive with the 370. Of course we are talking stock v.s. stock. Newer hr > very outdated z06 for the same price
That's about as untrue a statement you could make. The 2001 Z06 the OP is looking at has a 385hp V8. The HR has V6 that barley makes it over 300hp. How can you say that the HR is better? The Z06 may be very old and dated, but it still outperforms all stock Zs (370 included).

just depends on what you are looking for sir.
umm.. the 01 Z06 would eat a HR or 370 alive with drivers being equal on the strip and road course. its not even close. on top of that the Z06 responds very very very well to simple breathing mods. remember the C5 Z06's have LS6's under the hood. both the HR and C5 are looking dated so that argument is a push. the HR is a much much newer car so that favors the HR. fit and finish, HR. performance, Z06.

I am not talking about speed. I am talking about all things factored in. The only advantage the 01 z06 has is speed, which to me, does not outweigh the fact that it is nearly a decade and 3 generations old. To pay that much for such an old car, is not worth it imo. To each his own I guess.
http://www.mpt.org/motorweek/reviews/rt2115a.shtml 02 vette
http://www.mpt.org/motorweek/reviews/rt2825a.shtml 370z
I'd still go with the nissan.

It's a close call. I considered the same two cars, and went with an 08 leftover. Why? First, financing, much easier on the new car. But more important, to me the vette always seems big when I drive it. I think that the suspension as stock is great for the track but not so great on the street, still get that shimmy/bouncy feel over bumps. That can be corrected of course, but for a price. Vette is faster no doubt, but the over all feel and feedback is better in the Z. If its your only car, I would say go with the Z, I think you might get tired of driving the vette day in and day out. On the track I routinely harass C5's and C6's but it depends on your experience. The stock brakes on the Z (non brembo) are a horror show on the 5th lap of any track day, so consider that if your gonna track the car. But if want to flex bicepts and feel that launch at every toll booth, well maybe the vette is your beast.
