there is a big reason why the crossfire is cheaper....it's a CHEAP car.
either of them are horrible for a first car. high insurance for young people, great handling but not "easy" to drive like a civic. If you have driving time under your belt it wouldn't be a problem. They are just not as user friendly as non-sports cars.

OP, crossfires are one of the top 10 automotive flops of the last 25 years, nough said.

14k to spend? you can buy a brand new civic for that.
Honestly, there isn't anything "cheap" about a civic. Honda makes good quality cars that last forever. Seeing that your parents are sporting the bill and probably your insurance they will also agree to have a car that is cheap to maintain. Not that our cars are crazy expensive to keep up and running, they definitely are more expensive than honda parts when something breaks.

if it was was me.. considering the high mileage on the z compared to the crossfire.. like... what 60k difference? and the crossfire is cheaper.. for my first car i would just go with the crossfire.

my first car was a 4 cyl eclipse, and to me, it felt fast. you know why? because i never got to drive or own a true "fast" car until i was responsible enough and earned it. now i drive an 06 Z, and some of you might argue its not "fast" (at least not as fast as a RSX), but its a lot faster than the average car on the street. i definitely would have gotten into trouble if i had my Z for my first car.
point is, for your first car, go for something inexpensive and reliable. you want to stay out of trouble during your teen years of driving. oh, and dont text/talk and drive.

any dodge / chrysler / jeep product is cheap nasty junk ...
if your parents are giving you that much money to buy a car .. go get something new in that budget range that is reliable
honda, nissan, toyota ..
dont buy a 100,000 mile 350z to be cool for a few months till you wreck it or break it b/c you dont have any money to maintain it properly
buying a car is only a fraction of the overall cost of running it .. need to factor in gas, insurance, taxes, tires, repairs, and the list goes on forever

I am a new Z owner and have never been in a crossfire, but I was once a teenager not too long ago.
I have had several friends whom parents bought them $30k+ cars the moment they turned 16. Sure it was frustrating to watch since I was relatively poor, and had to work/pay for my first car. But, I had much more respect for that car than my friends ever did. My driving abilities were quite different as I knew how much work I put in to buy said car, and if I lost that car everything would be for not...and I would have no way to get to work.
Having said that, you could probably get either car and feel pretty awesome having such a nice car at such a young age. I look back now and think about how I felt my driving abilities were at the time compared to now and I wonder how I survived. There are some things you simply just learn with time. FWIW, my first car was a Toyota MR2 which I drove for 6 years before I had to sell for tuition money. I never wrecked it, but I came pretty close a lot of times, and I have a respect for how cars handle now.
Whatever you get, don't be an idiot and drive reasonably.
Also, the Z I just purchased was a 2003 Performance model with 50k miles that was owned by the original owner who had documentation of every service, and the car feels brand new. I paid $11k. If you have any plans to go to college, you will be immensly grateful if you decide to use the $14k to buy a brand new honda/civic/ect or even a CPO. If you purchased a Z, buy the time you are ready to start college you are going to have some costly maintenance repairs. Not to mention, if you do any major worth its time, you will not have time to dick with a sports car, nor will you want to worry about some punk jacking it while your in class.
