Also please remember that my initial question was to find out what/how this button works. Even though I have my GFs explanation from translating the Japanese it still does not answer my question

i have a jap import and mine also has this button it seems to slow down acceleration and tighten up steering in snow mode and in power there is not really a big difference than normal except i get an extra few kmph out each gear and a slightly quicker acceleration it makes about .1 of a difference in my 0 -100

Why would you do that, at least in normal driving? I can see that if you are stuck in the snow and need to spin the tires a bit to break free but for normal slippery driving the TCS can be a lifesaver.

Cool thread. I don't understand why we always get shafted, we actually get 'snow' in NA.

I have driven in snow many times and have found that with the TCS off you are able to feather the throttle response better. The TCS shuts down power to the spinning wheel but if both are spinning it is useless. I turn off TCS and start in second gear. I also try and fill up the gas tank if poor weather is expected.

It works for me but I am sure others have had good experience using TCS.
