Default Snow, AT, Power button

I have a button with Snow, AT, Power and I was wondering what the "Power" setting was because although it gives me a little bit of wheel spin when trying to ttake off quickly overall it feels more lethargic than in AT mode.

I have the owners manual but it is in Japanese so cant figure out what it says.

The manual I did download did not have any details of this switch (it is close to the hazard light buton).

Its a 2003 Japanese model. Not sure what version (Track, Enthusiast etc) it is as I dont know if the Japanese releases follwed the same configurations as the US and European releases. At first I thought that it may have been related to the TCS but the TCS button is under the steering wheel near the bonnet release and petrol cap release.

Thats the only time I use the TCS is in the snow/ice. Take it off if you need momentum, or wheel spin.

This is the first I have heard of this button...

Are you the original owner?

If not, maybe the previous owner put it in.

strange, I am guessing it's some sort of traction control.

If you check the manual you sent for you'll probably find a toll-free phone #; ask for the technical area customer service section. You just might get first hand advice from a technician there! Good luck, & post whatever you find out about it, dude!

Pretty cool. The 350Z US just has a plastic indentation with no buttons. The purpose is obvious but not sure how it works.

I know that on Infinitis the snow button kills the throttle response requiring you to push the pedal down a lot in order to get some movement from the car. See if that's what it does on yours.

it's a switch for the drive-by-wire throttle settings... obviously the top switch gives you max throttle response, the middle setting is the "economy" mode and the last one dulls your throttle input to avoid wheelspin. the exact same switch is on a few lexus cars ive been in.

The "power" button in my old prelude was turning off the A/C. You could switch it off mid-powerband and it was like hitting the boost! Then vtack kicked in, everything went black.

OK after scanning through the manual and buying dinner for my girlfriend to translate the Japanese, it is apparently to control the torque to the rear wheels. In "Snow" mode it reduces the power to the wheels and slows down how much the wheels spin so that the wheels can grip in the snow, AT mode is the normal mode and finally "power" is similar to the AT mode but it changes the gear ratio's.

Surprised this is something only in the Japanese Fairlady's and not seen in the US and European Z's.

Wtf...changes gear ratios? I don't think so. If anything, it just holds a gear longer or something before shifting. Any other Japanese residents with Zs here have this?

Just quoting my girlfriend with a direct translation from the manual by a female with no interest in cars. Can try and scan the page of the manual in Japanese and post it here, if you, or a Japanese speaker could provide a more "technical" translation.
