Gave Up On The 350z

I ordered the Nissan 350Z in January 16 and got a call from my dealer saying delivery should be last week of November. I was calm about it until my friend called and said he got his but he ordered in March. Went up to my Dealer (Bankston of Irving) and asked why and to take a look at the Invoice. I was the very last person on the Invoice. Looks like when i ordered, I was of the very first and they did not know the procedure to fax to NNA. So I asked for my deposit back and Ordered the new Hummer H2. I dont understand how Nissan can mess up like this. I really wanted a Z but i guess it wasnt meant to be.
Was that their explanation? I experienced the same cluelessness from my dealer...took me 4 times to manage to get any progress from them. When the initial launch of the pre-order system began, sales people I contacted didn't know a thing about the 350Z Pre-order program. If one of them was even remotely aware of the program, I would be top of the list too and would of had mine by now as well. 4 visits to the dealers...was straining my Z hopes and landed me in a much later group than my initial visits to set-up a deal in early January... Another instance of ignorant sales departments...

I hear ya, I ordered mine January 24th and was supposedly #6 at my dealer. I'm still waiting. I was recently given an eta of Sept 10. From what I've seen, it seems like the later people ordered the sooner they received their cars. My dealer received 2 Z's this past Saturday. I was told that they were ordered in June. I'm not sure how reliable the source is but, if it is true...that sucks. I've also been tempted to purchase something else but, I've waited this long. It also gives me more time to save more money for my down payment. I'll wait and see what happens around Sept. 10 and then decide what to do. Its just around the corner. I hope you don't have any regrets later for backing out. Good luck with the H2.

I'm in the same boat as you. I ordered at the very first available opportunity, and now have an October delivery. (slightly delayed due to my order being part of the chip shortage issue).
I can't conclusively say what Nissan's method was for the run order and how they picked which cars to build and when, but I would have hoped to be in the first batch.
Now I have to watch tons of other people get theirs first, wow the neighbors, and enjoy the rest of summer. When I get mine, the Z will already be "old news", the neighbors will have seen it, and it'll be getting cold.
But dammit, I'm commited to waiting for it!!!

You're going to base a (hopefully) long term ownership decision and switch to a totally different vehicle b/c you can't wait a few more months?
I don't get it...waiting sucks, but a little patience will pay off in the long run.
The search for an S2000 @ MSRP was a frickin' nightmare, but I'm glad I kept at it rather than give up and buy something more readily available.
If you really want the Z, a Hummer isn't going to solve that, but may make you kick yourself everytime you drive it for being too impatient.

sorry to hear that you're not taking your Z, I didn't order mine as early, did in april, but the dealer still managed to screw it up I'm at the end of the list now, to make matters worse NNA has not provided me with any VIN and ETA inspite of having called them a number of times

I really enjoyed coming to this website to learn about the Z and I feel like this is a big family. I already have a 2000 Acura NSX-T and i thought the Hummer H2 draws attention. Does no one on the forum like the new Hummer?
But i am more into the EXT Escalade for cruising purposes. I rarely have to use the capabilities of extreme offroad. And a EXT with 24" chrome catches a lot of attention!
24" on a H2 would be sick too but an oxymorone.

Of course not. Its a pathatic attempt to sell over priced suburbans to insecure whanna be's. It has the looks of the hummer, but look at the ground clearance (not). It is marketed as an off road performer but will fair no better than the pigish mall-terrain vehicles that it will hang out with. 99.9% of these will never see dirt. Its just a tarted up soccer mom transport for the testerone poisoned.

That's a pretty shallow reason to buy one IMO. Doesn’t the NSX attract enough attention already, or are you still attention-deprived?

Maybe I’m different, but to me that’s an ancillary consideration.
I traded a beautiful ’97 Supra TT for my S2000. It was black w/ tinted windows, w/ a front mount intercooler, 18” Hart Racingwheels, and the rear spoiler. Needless to say, it got a LOT more attention that my S2000, but I sold it for various other reasons. I’m perfectly content w/ the attention I get from my friends, family, and g/f, which isn’t related to material possessions.
I buy my cars, trucks, motorcycles, etc. based on how they meet MY needs, not to impress others. Also, don’t forget that attention is not always a good thing (police, thieves, carjackers, etc.)!
