You guys might be surprised at how much money you can make with the right routes. Plus you definitely know he can cover some ground. Of course the pizza might be slid over to one side of the box when you get it, but it'll be hot!
They get paid per delivery, which covers the mileage PLUS some. Most delivery areas are less than 3 miles driving distance and most runs are less than 1 mile. They will get paid around $1/delivery and on a Fri/Sat you will take 3 or 4 deliveries per trip and maybe travel 2-3 miles.
I compensate my employees for mileage at $0.50/mile and pizza delivery guys get at least that and up to twice that much. I actually delivered pizza in high school and part of college. I averaged $12/hour with tips and it was quick simple and enjoyable. Not bad.
