Default what happend?

i was going on a long turn going about 55 60 and there was a wet spot or stream going across the turn, i slow down to prob. 50 maybe 55 max. i usally can take this turn around 65 dry. i take the turn and my car skids out and tire starts burning and i end up doing a complete 180 and end up on the other side of the street. Thank g0d there was no cars and it was a wiiiiide street. but also my car comptly seemed shut up. after i was stopped comptly my throttle didnt work, and the power steering seemed disconnected. i turned off the car in drive my accidant. and then tried it didnt work. then put it in park. and tried turning it on and still wouldnt turn on. tried to turn on again and it turned on. why did this happen? i had tcs on btw. just felt like sharing also.

I don't really have a suggestion on your problem but I must say english class failed you HARD. I. Don't. Think. Sentences are. Supposed. To be this. Short. Maybe if your worded it a little better then I might be able to understand what happened.

What is it 70% less traction on a wet road vs dry? I dont remember for sure, but I know its significant. You cut your speed by 10 mph... Turn on the brain next time so you dont kill someone or yourself

Your car died cause you spun it and it probably rolled backwards after the 180 while it was in drive. Your power steering only works when the car is on...

Cars probably fine... you got lucky, this time... BE SAFE!

^+1 The coefficient of friction can be about 1/2 on a wet road vs. a dry road. Since the friction coefficient and the force to cause sliding are proportional, if you cut the friction in 1/2, you have to cut the horizontal force going around the turn as well. You didn't.

Simply put, you went around the turn too fast.

Dry or wet you have to stay neutral on the throttle in RWD cars until you're past the apex of the turn. I'll bet you didn't. You got a freebie now learn how to drive your car.

Or better yet, looks like you don't even have the ability to drive.

A bit harsh. Anyone can be surprised do to inexperience.

To the OP, and anyone else, a great idea is to find a local club and autocross your car. You'll learn a lot about handling and it is even better to autocross the car on wet days. You really learn a lot then.

A few weeks ago we had a club practice day. The weather varied from drizzle, to dry, to torrential rain (picture mid-west thunderstorm type of rain) and everything in between. The insanely long practice course was a different experience each run. Part of the course was over a drag strip with that special surface (can't recall the name of it) that has unbelievable grip when dry, and absolutely no grip (and I mean NO grip, picture glazed ice type grip) when wet. Great learning experience even for an old fart like me.

That's not an excuse. If you don't know how to drive your car, don't push it on public roads. Take it to a track when you feel like driving like a moron. Sounds to me like you just kept your foot on the gas all the way through the corner.

Personally, I think people who nearly wreck their cars for driving over their ability NEED to be dealt with harshly.

I understand your point but "...looks like you don't even have the ability to drive" isn't exactly saying what you just did and doesn't seem to add anything constructive.

Don't worry about the car shutting off, its fine. I'd worry about the driver. Next time you might hit another car and you won't have to worry about the car shutting off.

Between this post and the 140mph crash results...I'm feeling real lucky to not be around either!

A drop in 10mph around a corner in the rain is NUTS! Granted this is a sports car, but even sports cars have limits to adhesion. Please consider road conditions in the future...

LOL at responses. Yes, slow down in the rain. Rain = bad traction. Someone could have died...

it wasnt raining i understand though due to driver inexperience i hadnt driven my car in the wet. just on the turn there was a small stream maybe two feet wide going across the whole turn by the time i saw it since it was night i had slowed down only 10mph. i should have slowed down more granted. i am just lucky to be here. i should be taking this **** from other members. also im thinking it could have been my tired. the stock re040 i heard r unpredicatble when wet. i know i shouldnt blame tires, driver mistake.

I am so enthused that new members are learning to take their medicine. there was a while there when everyone got all butt hurt for calling out the stupidity of their actions.
