Depends on what you're looking for in an oil. Oil filters are more important imo
OK, now you've really got my attention, Shell advertise this oil as a fully synthetic option, i could have sworn you said it was just regular oil, Castrol GTX style?

It's advertised as a fully synthetic oil but I believe it's actually a traditional base (class III) that has enough synthetic qualities to be considered full synthetic (which makes it a class III+ I believe). The rating system (class III, IV and V) is ******** and most of the time it's not accurate. Bob the oil guy is a great source of information

Check out this UOA: http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums...Number=2330040

Turbo miata UOA after 5hrs of track time... http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums...ic#Post1925736

This explains the Class III+ thing: http://www.machinerylubrication.com/...ase-oil-trends

If you're lazy, "Incredibly, one new base oil feedstock is natural gas. In this decade, we will see a new type of ultraperformance base oil derived from wax which is derived from natural gas via the Fischer-Tropsch process (see Related Reading at end of article). The plants making these super-synthetic Group III base oils will employ the latest hydroprocessing technology. Dubbed GTL, for gas-to-liquids, these base stocks are already being referred to as Group III+, or “Super-Group III.” ChevronTexaco’s brand name for these products is FTBOTM base oils (FT for Fischer-Tropsch). They will have VIs significantly higher than PAOs, and they will be used to make the fuel-efficient, long-life automotive and industrial oils of the future."

Walmart is idiotic, that description gave me a headache... Rotella is traditionally a diesel oil manufacturer, this oil is meant for passenger cars. It was their petrol engine product they offered to the market.

Go7roo7, i don't see anything mentioning T6 is diesel, but i've heard diesel oil is popular in the S2000's.

zswickliffe, BITOG is a great place for that info, i've posted UOA's on there myself.

Do you have the stat sheet for this? or just if you know the cST at 100c?

I just switched to GTX after running PP and then Edge, and finding the engine started burning it like a ****

Zswickliffe, congratulations. My friend Malay is an Altima engineer at Nissan. We'll have to hang out some time cause I'm in Flint half the year for college.

Yesterday I spoke with Parts Shop Max in Escondido about my welded diff and they told me it ships this week. Now I just have to get back home in April to swap it in. This spring will be a fun one.

F2C I think it's 14.2 cST (properties here: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sour...hKjVNBD2n7XkGQ)

You'll see it's certified for use in diesel and petrol engines. Passes all sorts of standards.

Sounds good to me 1973!

I assure you we can use it. It just so happens that the rotella line is so good that it passes all sorts of diesel certifications. This oil really takes an abuse.

^^^ Looks great, was that your first try? What would you rate it on a 1-10 scale on difficulty (10 being landing on the moon successfully)?

Ahh I was not 100% sure. I searched on google for a bit and people were debating to no end if it can be used on vehicles with catalitics or not.

Right-o thanks!
