What have you done for your Z today?
I got berks, just dont know how im going to get the old ones off... No way my stud is going to play well with me... Guess I could hope it breaks off and drill it out but its in a crap spot and im done messing with it for now.
Going to cold weld the cracks for now and seek some professional help I guess
sad situation.

Good for now, ghetto patched my hairline cracks and just going to drive the car a bit before I mess with it further...
I didn't reset the ecu because every time I do the car runs like crap for like 2 weeks, hopefully it self adjust to the newly found exhaust freedom.
They'll let an awful lot of grit right through and into the engine. As mentioned, bad for piston rings. The stock paper filters, as long as you don't run them for 50K miles, filter far better and don't have any measurable pressure drop. K&N (and companies selling similar filters) are the biggest scammers in the aftermarket auto parts business. All of their marketing is pure BS and has never been substantiated. Nissan did a very good job designing the HR intake, and it's tough to improve upon.
dcains, I've heard the same thing exactly; not trying to knock K+N (I've used them), but a friend of mine who was a foreman jet mechanic (at Hill AFB in Utah) is extremely sharp mechanically; he told me that K+N allows a high flow of air, but particles through, that is why they get good #'s on dynos, etc., but bad for the engine. He told me he wouldn't put a K+N on his lawn mower.

Between your input and a bud who got hydro locked w a CAI, I think I'll go back to stock airbox, which I kept.
Preesh!
Don't do it lol.. If you don't wanna keep the cai ill trade you a pop charger or a dc short ram if you want.. I dont drive in the rain so im not that worried about hydro locking...

I foolishly installed a K&N drop-in in my brand new '88 E30 M3. Several months later I had the car at the dealer for a recall to clean the intake valves with crushed walnut shell blasting. They had to take the whole intake system apart, and it was filled with grit. They actually threatened to void the warranty on the car, until I pointed out that their parts department sold me the filter.
You still have it?
Do you know what they want for those these days?! Holy s...... Same with the E28 M5 (which was my dream car for some decades!) Psh, just a few years ago, coulda picked up a nice one (either car) for about $15k. Went back to look last year just for kicks and got a kick in the head with prices in mid-5-figures. C'mon!!
Doesn't help when they sell such cars on TV auctions for that much....
Just placed my order on Z1 for 06+ OEM LED tail lights, and Z1 Motorsports HP hatch struts. Next up... Tokico D-Spec struts, Eibach sportline springs, Linea Corse wheels, tires, camber and toe kit. After that it'll be a bit as it'll be rebuilt engine and SOHO GT35R turbo kit.... After I buy our house, which comes after I pay off our wedding, and finish captain upgrade...
Probably not, I haven't used it yet I have a poopoo charger on my car now... I have a tendency of buying things I dont need so I end up with things laying around... Its really hard to beat the stock air box.

What are you looking for? Its really hard to improve on what Nissan put out from the factory when it comes to intakes.

Only had the M3 for about 2 years, and it's one of 2 cars I wish I'd never sold. The other was a '67 Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA, and it was the 1960's version of the M3. Both are 6-figure cars now, which seems a bit much for the M3, when they wer $30K just several years ago. I had an E28 M5 at the same time as the M3, and that was a fun car, too, and actually more scarce. I paid $32K for the M3. (the very first one sold in the US), and only $28K for the M5, as BMW couldn't give them away at the time.
Ooo! Ooo! '88 M3..... swooooooon.....
