Tried cleaning the driver's side window motor. The motor had so much gunk in it. WTF, this is like my 2nd or 3rd motor. Nissan?

Now it won't work. What a PITA. I can't find my receipt for the motor which has a so-called lifetime warranty, so now I'll have to buy a new motor.

Also washed the car for the first time in weeks (rain finally stopped). I'm going to buff the car next.

 

Just fix it with some new motor brushes, cost like $10 tops and should last a nice long while

 

Got my cruise control light indicators working with a touring model's gauge cluster . This also signaled the end of a month long project of changing the interior's LEDs to blue and red accents.

Also gave her a thurough interior cleaning, not limited to removing the seats to get at the 5 years worth of crud and sand that has built up

lbz is the originator of the led conversion tutorial. I came up with a slightly different way of changing the rotary dial pointer LEDs (06-08 cars).

If you contact him he can give you a .pdf of the entire process. I'm actually looking at changing the key tumbler surround lighting as well.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how hard was it? I like that blue, but I also am very fond of the amber.

 

For me it was very easy but i've been soldering mod chips on consoles back to the Sega Dreamcast days. On a scale I'd say a 5, not terribly hard but def need some smaller component soldering experience.

It only really takes a steady hand, a few tools, and patience:

1) Adjustable Heat Soldering Station, not soldering iron: http://www.mpja.com/prodinfo.asp?number=15860+TL would be a good cheap choice.

3) Tweezers

4) Solder + Flux Pen

Watch some youtube videos on SMD led soldering and you should be good to go

yea i was all about it until the explanation. i can weld steel... not soldering little circuits

 

Oh come on guys, you'll never learn if you don't try I have Weller WP-80 soldering station with a bunch of different tips which makes a world of difference when doing these kinds of projects (was $450 soldering station when new).

I reflashed my base model's ecu with a cruise control enabled ROM a little while ago and got cruise control working. The cruise indicator lights will not work without swapping the actual gauges with a higher model's, so i purchased a touring model's gauges from a salvage yard for $100 and got the required LEDs and background.

The hardest part on my 07 was changing the A/C control's lighting. The main cluster was pretty darn easy. Having Uprev Cipher to reset the gauge needles was a beautiful thing.

I only wish I had the knowledge and experience to change my dash lights, looks great man.

It's an 08 enthusiast with 65k miles, and I got it for 16k in San Antonio. I had a G6 and totalled it at the fault of a 71 year old man in a red F-150 about a month ago. I've been reading threads on this site for a couple weeks now and can't wait to get started with the mods.
