So where do they get these cars from? Surely owners won't let them go for that low, and even if they're repos, the banks wouldn't let them go for so low. No?
They are repossessions and dealer trade ins. Sometimes the dealers don't want to deal with selling cars that won't bring in a certain amount of money, so off to auction they go.

And hence why trade-in values have taken a big, fat, dump. Dealers have offered me $2k BELOW published trade-in value, just to guarantee they get enough money from the auction to cover it.

I disagree. These prices are way higher than what would expect for a salvaged car at an auction.
hard to tell because we dont know the condition of the vehicle it can be a scrape to head on collision...im pretty sure thats what they go for i have seen it.
the way insurance get ther repair quotes are retarded so that would jus make it easier for the insurance to sell it off.
Picked up my '07 ZR at a Manheim auction...clean title, Navigation, B.O. leather, etc., 19k miles, perfect condition inside and out...$21k..Steals to be had, it was a Re-Po
If anyone else goes to any manheim auctions, could you please post the selling prices of various Z's and G's just as OP did. This thread helped me quite a bit in expecting what they all go for approx. Didn't mean to jack the thread or anything, just sayin.
I've been to a Mannheim, PA auction. This was back during the Dodge Prowler craze where supposedly those were rare cars. I saw at least five Prowlers that day.
Also, when you go, you are specifically instructed to keep your hands down and not even make eye contact with the auctioneer or else you might be walking away with a car you don't want.
my buddy works for the Manheim company here in san diego, and he just told me they just sold a couple nismo z, and they have sold Gtr's for super cheap.

Wow yeah I'm in SD as well. I know there are a few near SD, like the Fontana, Anaheim, LA, and Oceanside locations. Do you know which he was at? I've heard the Fontana is the biggest.
I have a dealers license and know everything about manheim. PM me if you would like me to get values or to let you know whats coming up to the next auction.
You need to watch your backs at those auctions, everyone is there to make money, not give cars away. If you are new to the game and dont have any experience.......it wont be good.
