Default hey all, just trying to learn a bit more about these cars

For starters, I currently drive an 07 4x4 ranger. lifted all the goodies. well i dont offroad as much as I used to so I'm looking to get back into another car. a Z is one of the many I'm considering.

Basically, just wanna find out what I need to look out for. Common problem areas etc etc

My budget is 20k and under pretty much. And i've seen many for sale for cheaper then that. Just wanna know what to look for and what to steer clear of.

Has to be a 6 spd.

Should i try and find an 06+?

Thanks!

thanks for the link.

just another question, how do the rear ends hold up in these cars with added power? I briefly browsed through that thread and didn't really see anything. How much power can the tranny hold as well?

Use the search feature. There is enough info on this site to answer every possible question you could have.

Welcome. Read all the stickied posts first. That will give you a lot of information to begin with and help you form your questions.

If you can, I would suggest going with '07+ and not to get a base model. Also, if you are going to keep your 4X4, the Z would be a great second car. If you are looking to sell the Ranger, then get something else. A Z is not a practical single car to own.

It will be my daily driver. But I don't have kids. I'm only 20. And back in 05 my mom and dad bought an 05 35th anniversary as a second car. I drove it frequently and know exactly what i'm getting myself into as far as the type of car it is.

A g35 would be nice, with the backseats, but I wouldnt use them enough to justify the extra cash.

well, i looked a bit harder, and the G35 is going for about the same price. I guess there is no MT 4 door G. hmm. I might look at the G as well. I figured they'd be going for more, but they aren't really..

Is maintenance more expensive then the G being that its nissans luxury division?

Mr. Martin,
I agree with Mr. Terrasmask above. With your budget, you can get a lightly used 07 or 08'. I'd shop hard for a low-mileage HR, which you should be able to acquire for $20k.

Yes there are 6mt G sedans around, they are hard to find. Having a Z as a DD is just fine for our area. The only prob is snowboarding on days it snows.

Are you Jake?

Nope I'm Tyler. And you won't find me anywhere near the snow. Lived in Reno last year for college, and i had enough of it. Hated wheeling my truck in the snow. So theres no way i'll be taking my next car up to Mt charleston or anything lol

another question, I want a lower mileage car, but im not afraid of high miles. I know how to service and work on my own vehicles. I saw an 07 G35 coupe for 13k with 90k miles on it...
should i run away? lol

because the cheaper the better. And the more money i have for mods once i get one

those have to be highway miles. If the car looks to be in good shape, and runs well, offer the guy 10K and see what he says lol (worst he can do is say no right?)

You couldn't have looked too hard. You can get a 6MT in the sedan or coupe. Even though it is Infiniti its the same engine, trans, etc as the Z so maintenance is no more. They would both wear out at the same rate and cost the about the same to fix.
