Red usually stands out more than others.

About the radar thing:

In my state, the state troopers have a device that measures speed by NOT radar but the distance traveled between 2 points.

They use a clicker when you pass a white line in the road and click again at the next white line, and walla your speed is measured. Gets the radar detector gurus everytime.

And they normally sit above on overpasses. Kinda mean, I have seen them hand out 30-50 tickets a day.

There are some good radar detectors, but no radar detector will work if the radar is not turned on until the officer clicks it on, or the ones that don't use radar.

My redline is a definite cop magnet to say the least. I also have a Valentine 1 and it's saved me a couple of times, but definitely isn't a guarantee everytime you speed. I'm just glad that I keep around the speed limit these days.

If your insurance company prices you based on what color you have, I'd suggest finding an insurance company that isn't run by such idiots.

But yes, red will likely stand out to the cops and reduce your stealth factor. Same thing w/ my yellow...I love the way it looks, but I'd get a stealthier color like silver if I had to do it over again.

Yes, redline attracts lots of attention from cops, but also from other people as well... and of course it looks the best

Not true. When I bought insurance last week for my 2004 Redline Z I wasn't even asked what color the car was.

And, I'm only paying $415/6 months for full, maximum coverage. Not bad for Los Angeles.

I too have been told by my ins. agent that red is higher on some model of cars. And I don't know if it's intentional but studies have been done that say red cars get more tickets. That could be because people that drive their cars more "spiritedly" buy more red sports cars though. Chicken or the egg type of thing IMO.

True, they did ask for the VIN. However, I called up my insurance company (American Express Casualty) tonight and asked. And no, I don't need to sell insurance to know what I'm talking about.

Their premiums are the same for the Z, regardless of color. If you'd like their number to ask for yourself, feel free to PM me.

No need to act like an ***. Duh.

Actually insurance companies do take into account the model and COLOR of your car because they did research and research showed that people with....starting with Pink have the highest rate of accidents and speeding tickets, followed by yellow, silver, black and then red. Go figure...LOL bu this is what I heard the other day on the news. Isn't that a coincidence.

You're probably right. I'm not saying ALL insurance companies don't take color into account. Some (or most) likely do.

Out of the colors the Z offers, White would be seen as the least dangerous in the eyes of the insurance industry. But than again you can't buy a color that suits their needs. Than again I'm sure this will change like everything else.

My insurance quote for a Redline Z vs. a Daytona Blue Z were exactly the same.

As for being a cop magnet, obviously red is a bright color so your eye is going to be drawn towards it. And a red car will probably be noticed on the road before a silver or black car, etc. But I just got pulled over yesterday doing 62 in a 35. Cop came up, asked for my insurance and etc, and proceeded to write me up for 49 and gave me a warning. I think it's a myth. Wether you get a ticket or not depends on how you handle the cop and what kind of mood he is in, not on what color you car is. But I do think you will get more attention in a Redline Z. Whether it be from people or cops.

So no, I don't think it's a cop magnet, and you shouldn't be charged more for insurance. And it's on hot color if I do say so myself.

You should look into finding a different/better insurance company. Options I could understand, but when I was shopping around for insurance quotes, not a single company I called (State Farm, Allstate, Farmers, 21st Century, Progressive, and American Express) asked about the color of the car or the VIN number before giving me a quote.

I'd expect it from a crappy insurance company like GEICO, but not the more reputable ones.

state farm wont write insurance there... because there is no price competition...

I have Allstate, without a VIN it's an estimate. They have to know the full year, model, trim, color, etc. to determine the final rate.
