370z or BMW 328i Coupe
Why would you consider a 328i and a 370, 328i is of no performance at all. Having owned one, all it is a dd and nothing more. If your range is around 30g's and like sportscars or performance cars, honda and toyota definitely have something, i.e. s2000 or supra. But if it came down to 328i vs 370, 370 all the way even over 335 imo.

Lexus IS350/G37?
Personally, I would take the 370Z.

Nope, I havn't but just imo, I like the 370z better. But if instant max torque is what you're trying to get at, then 335 is definitely that car. Just throwing this out if that is the case, but have you also looked at the 135, its basically the same thing but more cramped with less weight, not sure if the price is the same for used or not though (also if that is what you're after).

I hear ya on that one! Actually one of aspects the BMW didn't get rated so well in was its looks, I read somewhere. Pull up in the 370z and everyone's staring. I barely see any on the road, and I'm in So-Cal!
If you want a 4 door sports car that will blow the doors off of either of those pick up one of these, it has a Z06 engine, and its stats are astounding.

911 is probably the most reliable sports car ever made.
Or if you just want backseats, get a G35, or G37 coupe.

honestly, if ur gonna get a bmw, dont get a 3 series..almost everyone that has a bmw has a 3 or 5 series, i see at least 3-4 at every red light not even exaggerating, if ur gonna go with bmw, go for a 6 series or 7 series if u want it to stick out and be something special. and honestly i've seen the 370z a million times on the computer but whenever i see it on the road it truly grabs my attention.
WTF you guys are right, it's a yuppie car, I'm most likely going with the 370z vs the 328 coupe.
the 335 is still out of my range for a really low mile one and all extended warranty and maint.
Z FOR LIFE !!!!!!!
or until something better comes out,
kidding.
My 350 has been so much fun and the 370 will be too.
Thanks for setting me straight, needed a reality check.

LOL @ all the opinionated responses from people who have probably never driver a 328, or 335 for that matter.
And the guy that said the 335 has "mech. issues with the turbo engine". Where did you get that crap from? The N54 in the 335 also comes in the 135 and 535. Out of all those cars with the N54 I have seen maybe 3 with actual mechanical issues. As a general rule, BMWs are usually really well built mechanically. The majority of the problems you get in a BMW are related to the modules, programming, etc.
The 328 is a nice car, and depending on what options it has, could be a very nice car. It all depends on what kind of car you want. Other than the price range, they really don't have much in common.
I can tell you that the maintenance program is a very convenient thing. Also, as long as your local dealership isn't crappy, I can almost guarantee you will get better service at BMW than Nissan. We had a guy with an E46 that had a cracked cylinder head. We are putting a brand new head on it for half of what the labor should be and not charging for diagnosis. My dealer goodwills stuff all the time.
Also, just a tidbit to know what you're buying. BMW uses real rubber wiper inserts. To prevent the edges of the wiper insert from getting a groove worn in the, every 4 days or so the wipers blades change position about 1/2" so the other edge of the wiper blade is resting against the windshield. That's the kind of detail the engineers put into designing a car.
The 370Z is a great car, but more a a sports car, not designed as much for comfort, driveability, etc. The resale value on the BMW will also hold better, for two reasons. First, it is a used car so the original owner has already taken the biggest hit on depreciation. Second, a BMW will hold its value better than a Nissan anyway.
These are just some things to consider, take it for what its worth.

I would personally get a 335i. You can easily find one for about 30k. But, if it were between the 370z and 328i, I would go for the 328i. The new Z's might have problems in the future, as they are the first models of their kind. Z's are much cheaper to take care though. The 328i's have been out for a couple years now.

Go test drive both the 370z and 335 and see which you prefer.
