Would you buy a 350z or a Vette? Why?

I would never buy just a C5. It would have to be a Z06. C5s are EVERYWHERE. And since I can't afford $50k, I'd get the 350z again

The Z for sure!

Whats the vette have over the Z, power, thats it. In my opinion anyways. Power is easily added, looks are not. You may be able to add a few things but it still has the same basic design. The vette just doesnt do it for me. Also, interior quality, while the Z may not be the best, the vette just sucks imo. Everything moves around so much.

On the other hand, the vette sure was a lot of fun to drive.

(one thing about the vette i hate, it has exposed skrews everywhere!! even on the taillights!)

My 2 cents...

The C5 look is getting a little dated, and the interior came straight from a Silverado. (these are pretty much the only things bad about it)

If I had the money, C5 no doubt.

C5 is great, but far more expensive new. no good. people always talk about how much better it is than all other cars, and cheaper, but they fail to mention their talking about a 1997 model thats depreciated for 7 years. and for that matter, there are plenty other cars that could beat it, such as a early 90s viper, or NSX. which can be had for around 30k.

Since we have both.. my two cents worth: The Z is a fun car and fun to drive. I can't understand why they didnt think through a few things when they were designing it though (glovebox is almost useless, why they didnt put the power seat adjustment on the entry side is beyond me, since my wife and I each drive it you gotta reach all the inside the car to put the seat back to get in, still can't figure out what is going to fit in that little storage place on the console, seems like the center console could have been up a little higher to use as an armrest... just little stuff like that that could have been easily thought through you would think.

All in all, like i stated it is a very fun car... as far as comparing it a Corvette, they are in two different leagues as far as I can see. I have gone out and checked out my vette interior a few times after reading here how bad it is.. and am still trying to see what the problem is. The leather quality is excellent, far better than the Z IMO. For a sports car, it has excellent storage, a real glovebox, and an unGodly amount of power if tuned properly and I have yet to hear how cute it is. Usually I hear, Damn that vette is hot!

The Z is fun... we'll keep it maybe another year, don't think it's going to be a long term keeper. Don't flame me, just honestly answering the question after having the good fortune to have both cars for extended test drives and lucky also to have the finances to be able to pick either one.

The Vette is too big to me and the design is old and boring to me, The Z fits my personality better.

If I could afford a new Vette, I'd still get the Z, then dump the $ difference in mods...

the cars i was going between was a Vette Coupe and the Z...

the only advantage would be my upright bass would fit in the Vette... wont even get in the Z to save its life...

Z is much more of an overall performance car...

im more then happy with my decision...

I believe most people agree that a Z06 has superior power *and* handling compared to the 350Z. If you look at various track times, the Z06 is almost always at the top of the list, ahead of just about every other production car on the planet. I've never driven a Z06... this is just what I seem to read everywhere. And I have no idea how the non-Z06 compares. The magazines usually use the Z06 when doing comparisons and such.

The biggest disappointment to me about the Z has been the expense of adding hp and the problem thus far with reliability ie some problems with ATI SC and delay of TT.

I was thinking I could easily add some hp to my Z making it close or equal to a Z06 in performance. Now, I wonder if having a Vette with a warranty is not as bad after all? I am sure that if a FI upgrade comes along with over 400rwhp that has a warranty, I will be very happy.

It is not that I am against the ATI SC, actually, I love a lot of things about it. I am just waiting longer to get a greater assurance that the two problems that occured are not common and that with proper installation and tuning, it will be dependable. I just dont have 10K to experiment and blow up a motor. I do not want to do ATI's R&D for them at my risk.
