All you morons who say it cant be done are just ignorant idiots who know next to nothing about transmissions. As long as you get a v/b mod and a large external trans cooler you will be fine.

Please if you are going to post in a thread at least know what the *** you are talking about......and to the 6mt's anytime you want to run just remember 1 thing.....the 5at dosent loose boost between shifts like the 6mt does.
Like others have said..This forum is infested with kids..

Although I am not into forced induction, I have ridden in an extremely fast G35 TT that was auto. They showed me how they did it, and that car had almost 500whp from the dyno sheets. It did have an external oil cooler for the trans, but I think what sums this up is how much do you have to spend? I was told by this same shop that they can make my A/T Z at 400whp+, running safely, reliably, for 10k even out the door. Hince...why I do not have forced induction. As far as tuning an A/T....you can do it. PREPARE is what we are trying to tell you.

Yeah, but it's really about what you think. It's a Z, and that is what matters.

you can fill your engine full of sand and try to start it too!!! just because it can be done it doesnt mean it is practical, the automatic that is in the Z is not a "performance" automatic, that is why it is not perfered to make lots of power into a "stock" tranny
now adding a valve body or "shift kit" is a bandaid repair, true it may do its job but also it will not last repeated abuse of 500hp consistantly, autos (built right) are great for daily driving and 1/4 mile times... thats about it... everything else it can do but it isn't the best choice

the Z should have never been made in auto transmission but since it is the only people who should drive them are those old ladies i see driving them or the bimbos. the lancer evo, srt-4, wrx, etc. weren't made with auto trannys because it would just be stupid.

People will mod their automatic to the max and in the end, end up selling it for a manual.

People will also build a 500whp Car for a daily driver and never actually use that power..
Yes, it is worth "modifying" and automatic, you just can't hit the same numbers the 6spd can. Really, unless you're tracking your Z, then what's the point of so much power?
I've owned one 5spd, and I hated it because I live in Chicago, and traffic sucks.
Everyone thinks it's a contest, just do what you want.

this doesnt relate to the topic at all, but ok. i got my z from my uncle and he bought it auto. of course if i had a choice i would get a hardtop manual, but an auto roadster is fun to drive too.

im not trying to tune my car to one of those rally beast 500+WHP cars. i just want to do some modest tuning with a respectable horsepower level.

and i just saw the other posts, sorry for the slow delay. im not getting emails on thread replies anymore and i have been pretty busy lately. anywho,

jasonZ-YA, no im not going to do any tracking. i use my z for daily driving and as much as i like the car, i want to customize it more to make it more unique and personal, so i am doing both engine and cosmetic mods. im not doing it because my friends do, but because i think doing so can get the most out of my car and produce a better looking performance vehicle. another person on the forums said that modding your car is like putting your fingerprints on it, and i totally agree.

boomfranco, thank you for that information.

adrians07z, i would like to address the lag timing when changing gears on the manual shift box. are grounding wires in any way related to a valve body upgrade?

EnthuZast1986, i am definitely going to prepare, which is why i am asking around for opinions on the forum now. a turbo kit is rather extreme, but it is something i would consider. its way low on my list of mods though. suspension, exhaust, intake, and everything else comes first.

Lets see is an automatic z worth modding? We'll i believe they hold an event every year on this forum for forced induction z's and g's to see who is the fastest which the event is held on an airstrip. I believe last year an auto won so go figure and they were running with some of the big boys on this forum.

My stock '08 automatic Z is scary fast without getting anywhere near WOT. I just don't understand the need to modify the car, unless you're doing something serious OFF the streets.

OP, if you can afford to purchase the parts, buy them and put em on the car! Why ask? It is yours not ours.

If you search the site a modded 5at can be QUICKER, than a 6speed, but the 6speed will always be FASTER, mod for mod. So mod up and spank the 6speeds stop light to stop light, but you will be walked on the highway.

I had a 6speed 03, and now have a 05 35th 5at, I'm happy, and plan to mod, but my mod maybe a 370z 7speed. This is the auto that will shut up most of the auto bashers. The new 7 speed auto will dominate the 6speeds. Then any old lady can beat the 6 speeds

I agree. Close the thread. Everyone on here is childish. It's been argued a million times. It comes down to personal prefference. Get over it, people. Please close the thread.
