Default Why so many problems?

Been owning a Z for 1 month now and been on this forum and started realize why does the Z have so many issues? For a japanese car you would think it would not have a bunch of problems. I have mercedes E500 and a Corvette
C6 and they dont even have as much problems like the Z. They have a few couple things but it seems like I have been finding out problem after problem on this forum and from ownership. I was thinking it would have been problem free in comparision to a chevy or mercedes. Mine is 04 with 45K, I guess maybe the earlier production date?
So far I have acknowledge and dealing with are:
alignment/feathering
Bose Sub cut out, fixed with apply pressure to relay.
Bose Left front cut out
airbag light fixed with reset
rear axel clicking
brake squeeking in front?
NOT YET:
radiator fan?
Hate to say this I am starting to love my Z a little more than my vette!

So far I have acknowledge and is dealing with are:
alignment/feathering <<< Fixed by alignment
airbag light <<< ????
rear axel clicking <<< Fixed under TSB
brake squeeking in front? <<< They're worn out, get new pads.
NOT YET:
radiator fan? <<< Rare problem, now covered under warranty extension

Hate to say this I am starting to love my Z a little more than my vette! <<<< Goes without saying

BTW - in 5½ years, only 2 problems, feathering and broken cat.

You do realize that your Z is 5 years old and was pre-owned. No one has a clue what kind of maintenance the car had or how it was driven during that time frame. Used cars sometimes cause many problems. I bought my Z new on July1, 2003 and have had zero problems. The only real work done on it was the gas tank recall problem.

I have owned my Z for 5 years, 0 problems except for window tint is peeling from the left window. C6 are nice, but it does not mean it is flawless, I know my LS3 . The Z you got was probaly abused like most sportscars and one reason I will not buy an used one unless immaculate.

1.5 years, 19500 miles, 0 problems.

Well, technically my loud TO bearing was a problem, but they replaced the entire transmission.

Yeah it could be worse but I had no idea of the minor glitches the Z had. I guess I was more shocked finding out minor things one after another, but I know every car has problems and no cars are perfect. I still love my Z

As somebody mentioned, visit the forum for any car and you will see a lot of people talking about issues. Nobody posts on forums just to say "My car is running great, no problems here!" but as soon as any issue comes up they will post it... so all you see are the negative posts and you start thinking people only have negative things to say about that car. Also keep in mind that the 350z is a sports car and people tend to drive sports cars harder than econobox cars. Power + aggressive driving = worn/broken parts. I have replaced an oxygen sensor ($85) radiator fan motor ($38) and will be replacing my passenger side window motor ($140) soon. None of these are really major issues, the fan motor is the only one that could potentially lead to a major failure like engine overheating. All in all, not bad for a car that is almost 7 years old. I have friends with Chevys and Fords that they bought BRAND NEW and the vehicles spent more time at the repair shop in the first year of ownership than on the road... now that is poor quality.

how much research did you do on the particular car you purchased before you plunked your dinero down?

I've had my car since new (fall of '03)...and not a single OEM related issue

Just in case you didn't know the rear axel clicking sound is a factory recall

You sure it is a factory recall? I called a nissan dealership and they told me it was not coverd and they want a $140 to fix it. Is it just a noise or eventually lead to damage?

I think the recall only covers 2003s and 04s.Don't worry about it I have heard here that the sound eventually comes back anyway.

2006 absolutely zero problems. When I change oil at 3 to 4000 miles I see top of the fill line exactly where it was when it was changed, this car has ZERO oil consumption. The ONLY issue I have with mine is the cheesy inner black door handles that scratch up like crazy and show white underneath.
