Default Spoiler or not?

I was planning to get the aero package on a Touring but after looking at an Enthusiast up close today, I am now thinking of not going that route.
Reason? I'm starting to think the spoiler will reduce the look of the car. There is already a smooth up lift in the metal on the rear of the tail gate and adding the spoiler will hide that and give you a disjoint look.
Then I went back and looked at all the promotional shots I could find - guess what, no spoiler in 99% of them!

Thoughts?

Originally I opted not to get the Aero pkg. but after seeing actual cars with the spoiler it started to grow on me. It's small enough that it doesn't detract from the looks. Monday I had the dealer add it to my order.

Still it's a personal choice. There's going to be yeas & nays on this subject.

Ok this is BS...I didnt like the original Pics of the aero kit so i didnt get it...but after seeing it in person it is growing on me. to add it to the car at time of order was 500 bucks...now the dealer is telling me just to add it now and i dont have my car yet will be 650 and thats just the wing installed.

Hmmmm....im gonna call courtesy nissan see if steve will get me a deal. If alot of folks wanna add the wing maybe i can get a group deal.

abyss: that price is crazy, Courtesy sells the spoiler for $371. At $650 that's one hell of a labor markup by your dealer.

I don't know how much time you have, only a couple of days I think before your car arrives but maybe you can push to see if it can still be Port installed

I would weigh the asthetics over the mechanics on this one. I personaly dont like the spoiler for the exact reason you mentioned, but thats just to my eye.

This place near me http://www.ultimatez.com/350zperf.html has the spoiler for $360.99. I'm planning to go over there when I get my Z (better be next week!) to see how much it is to install.

Yes... I like this option, and I have always known that it will add something. However, because of its subtlety and impractical performance gains it is worth $200 to me. I would pay up to $75 to have it installed. Its nice, but not cost effective...

Thumbs up Spoiler

Mine will be installed tomorrow morning. I had ordered it 3 weeks ago and it was delayed. The dealer called this morning and said it came in about 30 minutes after I left with the car. Dealer is charging about 50.00 more than if I had gotten it preinstalled.

Personally, I was afraid I would not like it when I ordered. After seeing good pics I am sold .Definately adds something to the car.

later...

Get the spoiler. It looks better. IMO It looks odd without it.

I included the Aero package in my pre-order which was before there were any pictures available. Was terribly afraid it would look too oryza. After seeing the pictures I was elated. Of course, the Z looks great without it but I think it looks even better with it. Very well done IMHO.

I asked my dealer to throw in the aero package as part of the final deal- he agreed. I totally agree the spoiler improves the look of the car.

You think thats a big mark up?? I used to be a tech at an Acura dealership and heres some examples of labor markups:

"Gold Package". first off this kit consists of 3 gold plated plastic emblems, front/rear acura "A" and car name(integra, etc.) that is $150 at dealer cost, over the counter they charge $350 for this plastic, bad enough, but if you buy it as an option on the car its $900! that means 350 parts and 550 labor for me to go out for 10 minutes and pop off the old emblems and peel the tape off the new ones and stick them on!

my other fave was floor mats. $100 over the counter, $200 option. Yes, that means you got charged $100 for me to go out and throw the mats into your car. one time I did 20 sets on the lot before lunch and the sales manager says ,"hey! you just made us $2000! sad but true...

And dont even get me started on "paint sealant"......

Well, I did not like the original pics I saw of the spoiler. It was like where did this little thing come from? But, when I saw one in person, it looked pretty good, especially with the splashguards. It sort of rounded out the design. I was told that the wing on my '95 M3 was pretty much useless unless I was traveling over 100 mph. I guess you pay your $ and make your choice. I didn't get one.
