Storing Z for a year...worth it?

if you put in in storage, be sure to have the extra property insurance. I stored my Hatchback at a legitamite place, and when I came back from Iraq, my storage area had been broken into. be sure they have clear CCTV moniters too.

I still have a few weeks to decide. Thanks for all your input

Storing it will not cause any harm.
But it will continue to depreciate,it will be one year older, and have a lower resale/trade-in value.
You would probably be better off selling it now, then buying a newer model when you return.

Or coming back to your already paid off vehicle and being able to drive it for many more years without a car payment.

Only YOU know what's best for YOU in this situation. However, if I was making the decision the main driving force would be whether or not i could store the car inside a garage or some other place out of the weather. I would definitely sell if I had to park it outside for a year. Make sure you keep full coverage insurance on it too.
Should you decide to keep it [and store it inside] then there are a few things that should be done before you leave. Have the oil/filter changed before you park it. Put some Fuel Stabil in the tank and fill it up. Drive it for 15-20 min so the Stabil gets through the system. Attach a trickle charger to the battery. Check the tires for proper pressure - or a better option would be to fill them with Nitrogen since this gas is much more stabil than oxygen. I run Nitro in my tires all the time anyway. When you come back it'll be ready to roll.

KEEP IT, This is my second times I put my Z in storage. Last time was 16 months.... Battery was disconnected, when i came back. Plugged it in and fired right up... My z is in storage right now. I will be back in the summer and I am sure it will work just fine. I would have keep it.. Already am.

If you end up leaving it in a storage buy a set 4 inch thick rubber mats to keep the tires from getting flat spots. Or buy floor mats used in stables (find them in the tractor supply store) Just sayin..

No problem with storing it. There are thousands of very low mileage 300zx's hanging around stored, never driven and they are the best one's to find. The only problem with storing is that the rubber dries out but that takes 10+ years to really happen.
