Its paid off and won't cost you anything to keep it. KEEP IT , you have many good years ahead of you with your Z.

if you put in in storage, be sure to have the extra property insurance. I stored my Hatchback at a legitamite place, and when I came back from Iraq, my storage area had been broken into. be sure they have clear CCTV moniters too.

Not necessarily. I haven't looked into it too much, but I think storage cost is about $200/month.

I still have a few weeks to decide. Thanks for all your input

Storing it will not cause any harm.

But it will continue to depreciate,it will be one year older, and have a lower resale/trade-in value.

You would probably be better off selling it now, then buying a newer model when you return.

Or coming back to your already paid off vehicle and being able to drive it for many more years without a car payment.

Sell it at a good price now and buy another one cheaper when you come back and have some extra cash for modding

Only YOU know what's best for YOU in this situation. However, if I was making the decision the main driving force would be whether or not i could store the car inside a garage or some other place out of the weather. I would definitely sell if I had to park it outside for a year. Make sure you keep full coverage insurance on it too.

Should you decide to keep it [and store it inside] then there are a few things that should be done before you leave. Have the oil/filter changed before you park it. Put some Fuel Stabil in the tank and fill it up. Drive it for 15-20 min so the Stabil gets through the system. Attach a trickle charger to the battery. Check the tires for proper pressure - or a better option would be to fill them with Nitrogen since this gas is much more stabil than oxygen. I run Nitro in my tires all the time anyway. When you come back it'll be ready to roll.

If you end up leaving it in a storage buy a set 4 inch thick rubber mats to keep the tires from getting flat spots. Or buy floor mats used in stables (find them in the tractor supply store) Just sayin..

brings up another topic. you may want to consider putting the car on jacks so you don't get any flat spots on the tire. BTW - if you really love the car, I vote to keep it.

Not a good idea to leave a car on jacks for long periods of time - suspension components are not designed to be hung like that and it will cause problems. I've never had a problem with permanent flat spots on modern tires but i've never let a car sit for more than a few months. If you are worried about flat spots then i suggest you jack up the car to relieve most pressure on the tires but make sure the tires are still resting on the ground so the suspension is not hanging. Another option is to buy some of these http://www.tirecradle.com/

No problem with storing it. There are thousands of very low mileage 300zx's hanging around stored, never driven and they are the best one's to find. The only problem with storing is that the rubber dries out but that takes 10+ years to really happen.

I think the Nitro helps since it keeps your tires at a constant pressure but don't see how it can totally prevent flat spots.
