Storing Z for a year...worth it?
So I'll be working in Libya for a year and I have to decide if I should store my car for that long or if I should sell it.
I have a 2005 Enthusiast. It's paid off and Nissan just replaced the engine under warranty a few days ago.
Even if I follow "proper" advice about storing it, are problems to be expected after not running the car for that long?

If you have a safe place to store it there is no real harm done to the car from letting it sit. I would put in some sort of fuel stablizer (Sta-Bil comes to mind) to prevent the fuel from getting stale in the tank and disconnect the battery. Other than that no problems.

Hey Speezee, as long as you disconnect your battary your Z should be fine. When I deployed to Iraq back in 2003, a bunch of my army buddies stored their cars (outside) and when we came back in a year they were all fine. I think one guy had to get jumped, and another guy had to put some air in his tires, but other then that no issues. If I were you, I would store it in a garage or rent a storage facility. Plus right when you get back home you'll have your car waiting for you as opposed to going out and trying to find a new one to buy.

Older cars can sit outside in the weather with nothing done to them for a few years and fire right up on the stale gas, so your Z should be fine for a year. Just put sta-bil in the tank, and leave it either as close to empty as you can or as full as possible.
Your best bet would be to get a storage unit to keep it in but those can get expensive.
Like was said, unhook the battery and put fuel stabilizer in it to keep it from turning to gel in your motor and you should be fine.

It depends on how attached you are to your baby. If there is a love between you and your Z, store it and come back to it. Otherwise, sell it at a better price now and buy a newer one when you come back.
If possible, take it with you. i heard they have very nice roads in Libya. Shipping and import/export can be an issue.

Depends...if its stock and theres nothings special about it, then I'd sell it...If its a TT beast, I'd probably keep it.
Actually I would probably sell it, then buy something better when I came back...Thats just me.
