Default Heat at my feet!

Am new to this site so hope I am posting in correct area
Have just purchased 2003 350Z coupe and am getting radiant heat via centre console vents near my feet. Have read a few threads with explainations of exhaust pipe heat, engine too close etc etc but havent been able to find how to fix the problem. Can someone point me in the right direction. I dont know if it is a design " fault" or vent isn't shutting properly ( changing vent control positions doesnt eliminate it) or what??? Went to local Nissan Dealer and they seemed to shrug off as due to being a " high performance sports car"....hmmmmmmmmm. I dont want to put up with it, if it can be fixed. I live in South Australia which is pretty hot at the best of times without having additional heat produced while you are driving!!
PS I know someone will mention that there is an air conditioner fitted, why not use it. I dont believe it is practical to drive with window open to enjoy the cool fresh air and have the AC on your feet to get rid of the heat!

Thanks
Buzz

The transmission hump and floor above the catalytic converter is warm. That is just the way it is.

Yup its normal on the Z. Kinda sucks when I drive barefoot in the summer, my heel gets nice and toasty.

Never really had that problem. If its the vents I would turn the climate **** to 60 so you dont get any hot air coming in from the engine bay

My 04.5 does it too. I usually ride with the a/c on vent/floor and it seems to keep my feet from sweating. ha.

I think it's normal, you could possible pull the console and carpet and put some heat resistant material or something to help. I don't think it'll ever totally eliminate the issue but it might help... and probably cut some road noise as well.

Iv never heard of this issue but it sounds like your not the only one...I suppose I wouldnt worry.

I would suggest not going back to the dealership though. It sounds like they dont know so they'll end up digging around in your car and charging you for it.

Yep, normal. Annoys me that on a somewhat cool spring/fall day, I still get warm air even turning the temp control to 60. I've never read any posts where someone found a good way to insulate that area though or any other solution. Just one of those little bugs you have to put up with in order to enjoy the rest of the car.

What I cant understand is why some Zs have a problem and some dont?
I have 3 questions.

1)Has Nissan fixed the problem with the later models and if so, can a retro fit be done to sort out the earlier models ( mine is a 2003)

2)Is the issue an open vent bringing hot air in or is heat soaking thru the bodywork

3)If there are so many intelligent people driving Zs, why hasnt someone sorted it out yet?

Any answers?????

Because you have no objective data:

Ambient temperature?
Time motor has been running?
Temperature of transmission hump and floor?
Speed?

All we have is warm, kind of warm and hot. All terribly subjective.
