Default How easy is it to install cruise control on a 07 that dosen't have it ?

I am thinking about buying an 07 or 08 but most don't have cruise control and I like it on long trips so has anyone did this and what parts do you need and how hard is it to get on?

Thank You,
Richard

Theres some afermarket solution that recent came out, but between the different models I believe its ecu related? Im sure someone will chime it, which means you cant just *swap* it in from another model.

I wouldn't say it's easy at all. There is a company that makes one for the 350, it's based in the UK. you'd have to buy it and find somebody here in the states to install it. Check out the Top 100 Questions thread, there's a reference to it in there.

It doesn't make sense that most of the cars you find don't have it. It was only missing from Base models and they are relatively scarce.

i have an 07 base, i looked in the diy how to put apart the steering wheel and saw the cruise control button wiring. i researched and found out that every model z after 06 come prewired with cruise control, however, our ecu isn't programed for CC use. i bought the cruise control buttons they plug in nicely but they don't work (this was before i researched). im also intrigued how it works, does it use some kind of servo in the throttle ? or its just ran by the ecu?

The Z is "drive-by-wire" - the ecu controls the throttle, not your gas pedal.

All you need is a new steering wheel and wiring and stuff.

find an enthusiast+ model. base models are rare. you will be happier with an LSD anyways ..

And stuff, and stuff, and more stuff.
Pretty sure that UK set-up was pretty close to $1000 between parts and install.
As mentioned already, almost all 350's come with cruise - not all that many Base models out there.
