Default 2004 Z suspension change ???

Guys,

I took delivery of my UK 350Z earlier this week - finally the UK gets the 350Z !!!

We have a different suspension setup to US and Japanese cars - Ride is very slightly softer so it doesn't pogo like the Japanese 350Z's I have driven and has been noticed in the US model but it doesn't seem to have had an effect on grip and handling - if anything this has been improved and there is still zero roll in corners. I have been told that the changes to the suspension for the European model have been considered so successful by Nissan that it will become standard on all 350Z's regardless of market - anyone know if this has been incorporated in to 2004 Z's?

Thanks for the congrats Tweety-nator !!

The suspension mods really do work well - wonder if you guys could get the parts from the UK ?

Other changes from the US/Japanese cars include higher quality plastics used on the dash and door - the dash and doors are also black rather than grey. Headlamp washers, larger fuel tank, radiator and standard fit oil cooler, more cooling for the rear differential and an ESP system that cuts in far earlier !!!

All Euro cars have the aero package and Brembo brakes - all cars delivered this year have powered and heated leather seats, bose and RAYS wheels.

Its a great car - you have been seriously lucky having it for the last 15 months - deliveries in the UK only started this week !!!

What? a new suspension for the 2004.5 Z??? maybe I should have waited longer?
Oh well, I don't care too much about ride quality, just hope the new suspension setup won't make the car go faster in corners...

What are they thinking? The suspension replacement should be part of a service TSB to fix the feathering and bounce issue, not a new model year feature.

Just what production month is considered 2004.5 anyways? March 2004?

I called Nissan today and asked about the new suspension. The lady I talked too didn't know anything about it but put me on hold while she went to ask someone else. She came back and said that the European suspension is already on the 04's.

Default Roadster

I remember that a few people who noticed the problem on their 2003 Zs said the Roadster didn't do it. I winder if those suspension mods made it to the US Roadster first (to be phased in to the coupes later?)

So far my 2004 Z roadster doesn't bounce/jounce at all. It is amazingly composed over a broad variety of bumps/dips/ridges.

junglist350Z -

The euro spec interior is quite a lot better than the US and Japanese spec interiors - the quality of the plastics is a lot higher (read - nice to touch and a bit of weight to it) they have also changed the colour to black instead of grey. The sat nav flap only opens up - the lid doesn't retract into the dash like the US/Japanese cars but it feels a lot stronger - no play in the hinges at all.

Dunno if they are now standard on US cars but we also get large brackets which prevent the seat belt clip rattling when not in use, Euro cars have large knee pads on each side of the centre console and we also get voice driven cell phone integration.

Hopefully the following picture might give you an idea : -

Oh - and should point out that the Euro car ends up weighing a few pounds more though on the downside !! Some of that will be taken by the larger fuel tank, larger radiator, oil cooler etc.
Regards,

RickB

probably april or may 2004 but i'd suggest waiting for a later one to be 100% sure. the assembly plant has to use up its existing stock of parts before the new stuff hits the production line. and i'd give them some time to work out any problems that arise from the new build too.

The same for the US 2004 Z's. I don't believe the interior material is any different. I believe the only differences are the steering wheels and knee pads

Looks to me that the interior are the same... only the pad and the steering wheel...

They will put the new suspension on the 2004's when the run out of old parts. If that happens next week, they will start then. They will not wait until March just for the heck of it. It doesnt affect the build, so its just a inventory issue.

Holy....Basically Euro spec Z's are all Track+Touring.... Even though they cost heck lot more, it's nice to have those nice feathures that U.S. Z's don't have.
