Now that the V6 Mustang spanks the Z...
This has been covered many times before, if it's really getting to you, sell your Z and buy a V6 Mustang. I will never buy a Mustang, I don't care how fast they can make that hulky piece of ****.
350z's with the original DE engine (03-05) typically put down 220-230hp at the wheels. My 05 base model (3188 lbs) on average ran a 13.95 @ 100mph through the 1/4 mile (2.05 60-ft).
350z's with the HR engine (07-partial 09 run) typically put down 260-270hp at the wheels. That's an average of 40 horsepower more than the DE!! My 07 touring (3400 lbs since it's loaded with options) ran a 13.6 @ 104.6mph with a 2.08 60-ft time.
We're talking about a difference of over 3/10ths of a second through the 1/4 mile, and over 4mph of trap speed! That represents a significant difference here men. Take into account the fact that my loaded HR is 200lbs heavier, and the difference becomes even more pronounced. Don't say the difference isn't there, or isn't significant. If you don't believe me, look up a list on this website of fastest stock DE's and fastest stock HR's. There are people running 13.1's in stock HR's! Nobody was getting close to that in a stock DE. Clearly you underestimate the difference.
Oh, BTW.. the difference in redline RPM is pretty big too. 6600ish in the DE, 7000 in the "rev-up" version of the DE, and 7500rpms in the HR. This is significant because in a DE, you had to shift to 4th gear well before the 1/4 mile. In my HR, I go through the traps at about 7400 RPMs in 3rd gear. On the street that obviously translates to less shifting as well (if we ever street raced, which of course we don't! :-P

For those of you who clearly don't have the necessary experience with both the DE and HR engine to be taking part in this conversation, here are some facts-

what about the fact that it took them 8 years longer to make a v6 with pretty much the same displacement put out 300hp lol. We were putton more horse power out of our 3.5 in 03 then they were out of there 4.6. Big whoop its 2011 they Finally made a v6 car that has 300hp. But o yeah but with just .1 more liters we got and extra 35hp in 2011. A car that looks 30 times better handles better and more reliable. The 370z ***** on the new mustang. When i bought my car in 2004 i owned mustangs lol and lots of other things on the road high 13s were very good. They made a great car in that time.

While the output of the new Mustang engines is impressive, they're unproven power plants. We still don't know how they will hold up long-term. Ford still has a lot to prove to me before I'd even think about getting rid of my Nissan for one.
This is my first post. I have been researching buying an 07-08 Z for about 3 months now. I have read alot about them. This thread is really making me second guess joining a group of people like this. Come on.. If you own a Z, it is for the same reason I want to buy one, because we like them. Aside from the guy I just quoted, and a few others who actually know what they are talking about...you are all screws... Guess I might not sell my C5 afterall...At least in those forums, we don't spend hundreds of posts justifying our existance... hey, some people buy Neons because they like them, Right?
