Talking my Z in newsweek

Newsweek is doing an article on 3 car families. They had a photographer out on Wednesday to take pictures for the article. They're sending the photographer back on 11/1 to reshoot to get more of the cars in the photos. They want me to put the Z out in front on some of the shots. If it runs when they say it will, you'll see my chrome silver 04 Touring Z in the 11/10/03 week newsweek magazine.

There was a "call" (on edmunds.com in the nissan/350z area [and others]) for people that recently purchased a "fun car" that ended up making a total of 3 cars in the family with only two drivers. The emunds.com person asked if she could forward my info to newsweek. The newsweek writer called a few days later.

Our newsweek article (we're a small part of it) has finally been posted on the newsweek website.

Newsweek Business Section intro

"Three for the road" article

I look so old and unhappy in the pictures.

Yep, 40.

I've been wanting a Z since I drove a 280Z in 1985.

I don't feel 40, but the pictures in the article certainly show someone not in their 20's anymore.

Hahahaha, dude, you look like you're ready to eat the cameraman....did he sneeze on the Z or something?

Cool article. Difference in my neighborhood is that everyone bought a freakin H2 or 2 of them and they can't fit them in the garage so my neighborhood looks like a freakin school bus parking lot (the person who came up with that yellow color needs to be hung, drawn, and quartered). I wish they would've bought a Z or 2 instead

rdballer, very cool. I'm in the same boat as you. 40 with three cars. My Z is my fun car and my date car, except I'm always afraid I'll have to valet it, or the parking situation will not be to my liking, so we end up in the wife's Pathfinder.

Yes, all we were missing was the pitch fork. We've been laughing about that since the photographer was here.

The picture that was used was from the second, three hour photo shoot. That's probably why we (I) wasn't smiling too much. I know there were several pictures taken where I was smiling.

The first photo shoot was with the rear end of the cars sticking out of the garage. The editor did not like that look so they sent the photographer up from LA a second time to reshoot it.

It took about three hours each time (from setup to final picture).

The only thing I think we're getting out of it is some "free" copies of newsweek are being sent to us.

I can just hear everyone mispronouncing my last name. It's 'Ballet' but with a 'r' sound at the end instead of the 't'. Everyone usually pronounces it 'Ball'er. That's life with my last name.

HAHA!! I just read this article this past weekend. I told my husband - Wonder if he's a member on the site? So I did a search today!

Funny that you are a member - although with only 19 posts, I'm guessing you're pretty new?

Anyway, great to see you representing the Z FORCE in Newsweek. We're in the same category as you (ah, the evils of consumption) - Prelude, Highlander, and Z for the 2 of us.
