Default Sponsorship

Hey guys, So Im planning on building my car this winter after saving up some money this summer. Im gunna be short some money, actually a lot of money haha. Close to 3,000. Now I know some of you are not going to like this but I am 16, and yea most of you think that im some rich kid or w/e. I paid for it, I get raped by insurance, I worked hard to pay for it, and it is my 3rd car. Now, Heres my question... How realistic is it to become sponsored? Im not asking for a single company to give my like 20,000 or something crazy like that. Im just seeing if its possible for any company to pay me if I advertise for them. Or do you think that any company would give me a discount if I advertise for them?

Thanks,
Philip

Ps- I'm not really sure if it affects the companys decision or not, but I think it would be very cool to be 17, by the time its done, and have a car with over 700whp(my goal). I just hope companies also think that.

700whp and 350z don't belong in the same sentence. It's gonna be a long road, and hopefully it works out for you.

LOL.LOL.LOL. I hope you are not thinking that 3000 will get you anywhere or is that how short you intend to be. 16 and already on your third car. Wow. This would go great in the FI section. GL on sponsorship when you are trying to get it starting from scratch.

you just opened yourself up to a lolfest. come on dude, be realistic. you are not going to build your car for any sort of respectable power. you can't even afford to mod it without sponsorship - how are you going to afford maintenance?

unless you know the right people, you aren't going to get a 7 year old car sponsored unless there's been a crazy amount of work put into it, and the company can really benefit by taking your car out to lots of popular shows.

get your head out of the clouds. there is no free lunch in life. sponsorships only happen to those that are worthy, and those that work for it. you are neither. maybe if you bought an ft86 the moment it came out you'd stand a half chance in hell, but even then, unrealistic.

most sponsorships are pursued via applications, much like resume's, about the car, and are tailored to specific companies. you state what you'd like from them, and what you can give to them, why it's worth it, what you'll be doing with the car etc.

chances are some 16 year old kid with a cool daily driver isn't going to be a good enough reason for them to give you free or discounted ****.

I only need 3,000 more. and yes I know people that will be able to help me built the motor, Dont try and tell me that I cant do it. I have allready built a 431 whp jetta. (my first car). Im pretty confidant I will be able to build a 700whp car. The only thing that is setting me short is cams, and valves, springs, retainers.

Pic of said Jetta? How much do you think it cost to build a 700hp VQ35? I'm not saying its impossible if you are a spoiled rich kid, but other than that GL. Go to the FI section(I wish the mods would move this there) and see how many have acheived 700hp thats not a shop build. I can think of 1.

yup, whats your email? ill send some pics and I belive I still have the vid from the dyno. total build will be abount 13,000. Im not spoiled, I just have been very lucky as a kid. I landed a job working over 50 hour weeks making 13/hour- and I also work almost every day, as well as every weekend. The only thing in my life is school, and work.

while those wages aren't that impressive, it's good for a kid your age, and you probably have **** for bills outside of car stuff.

either way your 700whp goals are incredibly optimistic and you have NO idea what you are getting into at this point. also, that kind of power on a wrong wheel drive vehicle is kind of funny.

I have a feeling you will leave the forum in a couple of weeks.

What happened to the other 2 rides? Jobs must be paying nice for you to be on your third ride and to have enough saved up, to the last couple grand, to be building a 700whp ride and to have done.

Correction... 700whp and 16 year old don't belong in the same sentence.

If you've built up enough capital to build a 700 whp 350Z at the age of 16, the last $3000 shouldn't be too tough.

I did not say I had 3 cars, I have HAD 2 previous, this is my 3rd. I have made money off every car I owned, and baught this car in winter. I earn a majority of my money during the summer, so I will have to wait untill winter to build. I'll be working more than I can imagine to get the first 10,000. 3,000 is the most I will need. I really am trying to understand why some people feel the need to have totally differant attitudes twards kids. If I were to say I was 35, you guys would have acted totally differant. Ive worked harder, and sacraficed more than most of the people on this fourm to even just buy this car... but most of you just do not want to accept that fact.

kid, you haven't sacrificed ****, you have it easy, living at home, with nothing of importance to spend your entirely disposable income on.

I only wish I would have given myself a similar grace period, but I chose to grow up and become independent instead.

I never said you had three cars, I'm asking what happened to the other two rides? Reasonable question. Where they wrecked, you grew tired of them, blown up? I would think a sponsor would wonder what kind of rate of return they're going to get if they fork over some money to you. But being 16 and already on your third car? Either you wrecked them, didn't maintain them, or grew tired of them. Are companies going to want to hand over money to you and have you move onto another platform in a few months? I don't think so. And I'd ask the same question if you were 35, and switched 3 cars within a one year period.

Also, my attitude towards you isn't negative or positive. I'm asking questions. My comment on 700whp and 16 year olds isn't personal. I was there and know I would have killed myself with a car like that. I wonder why is it when an adult gives a 16 year old info or questions them they feel they're being given different attitudes. Look through the different forums, don't matter what age you are. People will dogpile you if you give them a chance. As for the questions get used to them if you're thinking or asking companies to pay for your desires for you ride.

I was not refering to you with my post. When I first got my liscense I did not know if a car with 1000hp was fast or 10hp was fast. Then I met some mechanics through friends. and decided to get a manual, turbo'd car. that was when I baught the jetta 1.8t. worst car ever. It was my first build, and lasted 5ish months. It was annoying not being able to put the power to the ground I would spin the tires 24/7. I convinced my parents into letting me sell it and get a 350z. This is the car I chose that would take me through college. I am not sure how I would prove this to a company, but its the truth. it would even work out if some companies simply give me a doscount.
