Default Shipping an airbag

Has anyone here shipped an airbag? Anybody know the rules/regs? Just curious, would like to sell mine as was wondering.

Thanks

Obviously, the safe thing to do is call one of the shippers and find out for sure.

I've checked with local UPS and USPS, they said it was no big deal, find that hard to believe. I picked up some anti-static bubble wrap, and anti-static packing stuff...then also thought about double boxing. I even thought about wrapping bubble wrap around, then wrapping shipping, duct, or gorilla tape around that.

Just put some paper around it, wrap it in some bubble wrap and your good to go. Just received and airbag a couple weeks ago.

So, the combo of the bubble wrap and packing paper won't cause static?

i don't know if this might help, but i've purchase several airbags for other cars and the vendors usually ship them in a box and thats it, no bubble wrap or anything.

and they work fine when they arrive.

Are you afraid they might deploy on the shipping? i find that very unlikely, they need sensors or the SRS module to send the signal. but you never know.

If it doesn't cost you anything extra to ship it with those preventive measures then do it.

Yeah, I'm afraid of a little static or something. Although both UPS and USPS has told me know big deal, if something goes off, I'm ultimately responsible. So yeah, I'm a little nervous.

Static electricity is not going to set off an airbag. Just pack it such that it doesn't get crushed or damaged and don't worry about it. The systems required to complete an airbag circuit and deploy it are too complicated for it to be triggered by static electricity.

In most cases the bag circuits work off of a ground, in other words when the sensor is triggered it completes a ground circuit, thus completing the total circuit.

OP, just make sure you leave any loose electrical connections exposed and for good measure include a couple of new 6 volt batteries in the package, just to be safe. I wouldn't worry about packing material, just shove em in a small shipping box and your good to go. What do u think the shipping insurance is for???

long as it is not powered, it will not be exploding. it is safe to ship. You should see how they come new from the dealer.
