Default Dealership left driver's side window down. Car badly rained in.

So I dropped my car off at the Dealership Friday evening to be serviced for a 30,000 mile routine maintenance. They parked my car outside and the driver's side window was left half way down. I got a call Saturday morning from the dealership saying they left my window down and the car got rained in from the bad weather that night (there was a freaking thunderstorm). They went on to say they will clean it and so forth and will have to keep it till Monday afternoon. They have given me a rental car to use in the meantime.

Question, if this happened to you what would you do? When I pick up my car Monday should I ask for some type documentation mentioning this event? Ask for 10% discount for their mishap?

They'd better do more than a goddamn interior clean-up that's for sure.

The dealer is taking responsibility. That's cool.

I would like to see a job order stating water inside the car and drying. Just keep it should any future problem arise.

It all depends upon how much they are doing when they "handle it". If they throw a couple towels in there to soak up the water, they're not actually handling it.

I believe the stealership should replace your Z with a GT-R, at no additional charges. OP why didn't u pick up the car when they were done with the maintenance on Saturday night??? Did living dangerously work out for you???

I work at a body shop, and on the rare occasion, when a car gets rained in we completely strip the interior, let it air dry, and then replace anything that was permanently damaged. But everything else gets reinstalled.

Best to contact your insurance company and let them see to it the dealer fix your car right.

Wow. you should have stopped the dealer in his tracks and shown up with an adjuster IMMEDIATELY.
they damaged your vehicle and will try to SAVE money on their error.

what a joke.

putting any trust in them is useless. you will get ****ed with and lose.

step your game up and take care of your business.

Insurance? The car wasn't in an accident. I doubt insurance would cover negligence on anybodys part.

I would have waited until Tuesday. That way you would already know what they did to fix the problem. If they came through and fixed it to your satisfaction, then it's all a moot point. If they didn't fix it to your satisfaction, then you could poll for ideas. Otherwise it's pointless to speculate on what you should do because you don't yet know what they did or didn't do, right?
