Default got rear ended + other stuff

I'll make this cliff notes:

yesterday driving
bish rear ends me
rear bumper has scratch damage
turbo xs muffler slightly cracked - *weldable*
insurance gave around $1000 for the accident
no pix (yet)

unrelated (non-cliffs):

I am in need of a new clutch, as mine is starting to very slowly slip. I am thinking about doing a long-tube header install (ebay special/megan racing) while I do my clutch (mechanic won't charge extra).

dilemma:

keep Z the way it is outside (needs repaint all around anyway) and do the clutch + headers (also osiris after wards down the line in a few months)
or
fix the rear bumper, paint the car, and do the clutch+headers later.

thanks for input.

damn bishs. id say doing it all at the same time makes most sense, but if the clutch is only starting to slip a little, id wait til it gets worse.

I'm saying I'd like to do it now since I can do both at the same time and not have to worry, that and I have the cash to do it right now and don't need the car during the process....

Is it your DD?

I was faced with a similar dilemma about a month ago. I needed new tires all around, my lower control arm bushings were shot, and I wanted springs to raise it a little so my STS turbo piping wouldn't scrape everything.

My fender has a dent in it from where a dumb a$$ git it with his door while it was parked and I also really need a new front bumper from where the lip was that got damaged over time from being so low.

It is my DD, so I went with the mechanical issues. I guess it depends on how long you think you have on the clutch.

I have a lexus as a DD, so no issue there, but it is the summer and my baby sat covered all winter

What I am thinking of doing is the following:

buy exedy stage 1 kit + f1 flywheel (on ebay around $500)
buy long tube headers (megan racing)
install
profit

as for the body work, the car is going to sit this winter too, so I have no issue not painting it or anything...I wana put a kit on it eventually and this gives me an excuse to get a nismo front/rear bumper down the line painted...

so even a little accident like that makes a vehicle SALVAGE if it goes through the insurance or the police report?

I always wondered...

That sucks OP. At least you weren't hurt.

No. Its only salvaged if the insurance pays off the whole car and takes it (ie: damage is more than what car is worth)

quicky update:

took rear bumper off
Styrofoam thing is busted
metal beam is slightly bent forward (not a huge issue)
entire exhaust up to my y-pipe is pushed up 4 inches or so
insurance dude will come out to look at it again
more $$ = more parts.

thanks, I hope so too, more $$ means mods...if I get enough I do the osiris tune after the headers install + clutch.
