Hey Montez,

I think you are a little confused. My car only has 5500 miles on it. If I had 28k, I would not have a problem with that price.

kbb tradein on my 5AT Brickyard Touing with everything but NAV and Splash Guards is $28,675 w/7500 miles. The car is completely stock with almost new Michelin A/Ss. I wouldn't sell it for less and I wouldn't put in an auction. I don't have cupping either.

Some new car dealers are putting the kbb site on their own website for tradeins, thats how I found the price. Any dealer who offered me less wouldn't get my business. What, do they think we're all stupid or desperate? $29,500 from a private party undercuts the dealers and my list was $33,404. A dealer would ask at least $31, 500 because all they would have to do is put it on their lot the same day, they wouldn't even have to wash it. $26K is ludicrous.

Dealers don't buy @ KBB. They buy @ the dealer black book prices. Why would they buy @ KBB and then you the customer come in and want to buy it @ KBB. No $$ there.

There are 2 different $$ amounts on KBB, Trad in and retail value. They trade in value is less than the retail. Anyway, I would take less thank the trade in value, just not $7000.00 less. I would probably take $27,000. on my trade. The dealer could then probably make a $3000.00 profit on it without trying.

Is there anyway to get a black book value on the car?

I don't know, the dealer who posted before you seems to think kbb tradein is the same as retail?? I just quoted tradin, not kbb retail.

The KBB "Retail" value is the amount the dealer would be expected to sell the car for (our what you would expect to pay buying used from a dealer.

Correct. All I quoted was kbb tradein, I didn't look for retail. It wasn't the question asked. I didn't care, OK?

It's not publised online but I have one in front of me. Touring model ranges from 29,100 for xtra clean to 25,200 for roungh. No other models in here yet. Add $450 for auto tranny. Xtra clean means real low miles for the year (under 2k) in our case. These #'s are a month old (Sep), I have my new book @ the shop. FYI Nobody ever pays xtra clean for a car @ the auction unless the dealer is buying it for themself or family member in otherwords he's not buying it to resell it.

http://www.blackbookusa.com/aboutus.asp Explains how balck book prices are figured.

I know it's not the same I'm just saying that's not what dealers go by. Dealer's usually only quote kbb when it's benifical to them.
