Question Where do you put the dogs?

I am new to this board, but I've read of a number of people taking their dogs along, some fairly large.

My question is where do they ride? I have a 50 lb Samoyed. Not large for the breed, but I don't know if he will fit in the back. Do the dogs get parked in the passenger's seat, or on the floor, or what's the story here?

Any positive input would help, thanks.

passenger seat... but then again...
its a 5lb maltese. she always presses the hazard button too, and occasionally she likes to enjoy the heated seat feature, saw her one time hit it and then lay down in the seat. I think shes smarter than she lets on.

We have 5 dogs, each between 45-85 lb almost bought a G-35 because of the back seat but elected to buy the Z and transport the dogs in another car. It's a sports car; only the wife goes in it.

yeah, i too have a small dog (20-25 lbs.) so i just put her in the front seat. put i'm not the type of person to go cruizin with my dog and have her drooling all over the interior, or hangin her head out the window slobering all down the side of the door. mostly its just the occasional trip to the vet, and thats straight there and straight back. if i had a big dog i dont know what i would do, since this is my only car.

Where do you put the dogs?

In the house, dog house, cage, neighbor's car, UPS, FedEX, anywhere but the Z!

Lol, just joking

I just know I would never bring either of my dogs ( I have two big yellow labs) in my baby Z.

I had to take my 65 lb. Husky to the vet once in the Z. Only car available at the time of her appointment. I could tell she didn't like riding so close to the ground and the stiff ride. Most of her commuting used to be by a nice big Chevy truck and you can tell by the way she sits, she misses riding around in a truck.

It'll be okay, though. I should be able to afford another truck by next May, so as long as she doesn't get sick on me, she'll get a truck ride for her next annual vet visit.

Here's a picture I took last year when my boy when only weighed in at 35lbs. Now he's about 50lbs. and he still prefers to ride back there. Fortunately, I rarely travel with him in the Z.

my 5lb maltese rides in the passenger seat as well.. she is also fond of the emergency flashers and seat warmer button hahaha..our dogs think alike Ares.. one time i took my gf and my dog on a mountain ride. i guess the drive was too curvy and too fast so she threw up all over my g/f hahha.. good thing it was only like watery stuff... and good thing it was on my friend's sweatshirt which she was wearing, good thing it wasn't on the Z!!! hahhaah also, does the law require dogs wear seat belt?? i think i've heard of it somewhere.. like a seatbelt for dogs

LOL ... "she always presses the hazard button too".

My dog Wrigley does the same thing! He fits in the rear area before the torsion bar but I also put a small pillow on the center console and he lays on there too. I'll take some pics tonite! FYI he's about 30 lbs.

We tried to put our 38lb beagle in the back but he didn't dig it at all and climb into the front seat scratching the plastic. No more doggie rides for him in the Z. He only rides in our other cars (RAV4), which is a total mess because of his hair and drooliness, but hey he has fun.

Default NO DOGS ALLOWED!

In my wife's company car! Actually, I purchased one of those really nice seat covers from Orvis for the Expedition so she can ride in it now too. No pets allowed in the Z ever. Not even in my other 2.

My Black Lab goes in my MDX. She loves all the space back there with the two rows of seats folded down. Here she is after a weekend camping trip in the Sierra's.

Cute picture Mac -- He looks real snug, almost like he belongs there.

Still not sure if mine will fit in there like that. He's not real tall, but kind of compact an muscular. Will have to wait and see I guess. Wouldn't be an every day thing, but it would be helpful if I could transport him sometimes. I suppose he could ride on the seat in a pinch.

I have heard of dog seat belts, but never seen one. Doesn't seem practical somehow, like one of those ideas that seem good in the abstract, but causes more problems than it solves.
